From what I can see it's been a few years since anyone posted looking for a source of wood for rifle stocks. There was a guy down in Calgary I bought a couple from in the past but don't think he's around anymore. Looks like Prophet River has a few but they've been picked through pretty good.
Anyone have any recommendations for where to look?
Much appreciated!

This is in Ontario and they are very easy to deal with. Talk to them, they will hand selected blanks for you.

They have a few types of walnut for gun stock blanks.

I bought some Lee Enfield stocks from Prestige (rhymes with footwork) in Alberta. Their pieces were a little too dry when they arrived, and I needed to increase their RH before working.

Iv been ordering blanks from a reputable supplier out of Turkey, air dried properly, not cheap but top quality.

Can get you in contact if you like.

I have a spare on hand (English walnut) that I don’t have plans for, to thin for a cheek piece but a nice straight grained blank if you’re interested.

Eastcoast specialty Hardwoods in Dartmouth NS. They sell just about any type of wood you would ever want. I’ve seen some beautiful figured wood in multiple varies. Well worth the visit. I’ve been know to waste over an hour just looking and still not going through the whole place. I make SMLE top wood which I find in their bins. They sell the cut ends cheaper than buying a full board. They have any type of wood you would ever want.

Mine will definitely need a cheek piece, but thanks for the offer!

My buddy calls it "Wood Church". I enjoy wasting time there too.

Look for specialty wood suppliers in your province and local area. Kijiji hard wood lumber or walnut lumber . Phone around I’ve found some amazing

ECSH doesnt have any figured walnut.

did you check ebay/locally? I find a lot of them are disgustinly overprice - ie $350 for a regular walnut blank that I then found for $45 locally.....

Years ago I bought some highly figured green blanks on ebay cheap. Figured they’d age at my place. Waxed the ends and left them close to heating ducts in the basement. You might not have thst kind of time.

Canyon creek gunstocks in Montana has some great blanks. I consider them very reasonable for the figure and he has different price ranges to work from. Good luck in your search and make sure you post a pic if you do find one.
