wood for lee enfield no4 mk2 (restore)

Hey guys, i picked up a sporterized no4 mk2 in really good shape. Does anynone know where i could find the wood to restore its original format?

But seriously they are find to these days. Try ebay and site sponsors that deal in old and used guns. USA websites that deal in milsurps AND ship to Canada is also a good bet.

Just a heads up you won't make any money on it. Add up the cost of the gun and all the parts and that is what it will be worth. Then there is the cost of shipping said parts. If you want a full wood enfield but don't want to pay 800 or so dollars this is a fun way to do it. I did it and have no regrets.

Mine turned out great.
 
With a bit of woodwork you can modify a Mk I type forend to work on Mk 2. Such reworked forends were used on some factory conversions so it is an accurate way to go.

Hi Beater, I know we've PMed about Ishapore wood but I have a technical question for you (no sarcasm, just looking to learn), did India ever use Walnut?

Thank-you, as smart as I think I am sometimes I get overloaded with internet info and end up more confused than when I started. The stocks I have are Walnut (verified by a professional woodworker) yet have the Ishy screw.
 
well I could very well be wrong aswell. maybe the stuff ive seen is low grade walnut or something. I couldn't get it to oil up nice like Canadian walnut that's for sure and found it very soft
 
The Indian Ishapore factory never make No4s AFAIK, just No1 MkIII and the 7.62 NATO version 1A1 so if it's Ishapore wood, it won't fit. The Pakistani Ordnance Factory (POF) made No4Mk1s and No4Mk2s and their stockwood was circasian walnut, very dark usually.
 
as long as i could stain it. A sand job would alow it to take oil better. Its iust for looks for me, period accurate wood makes no difference to me. Thanks for all the replies folks!
 
Don't know if it's going to help you but there's a guy and another ones that made and makes all sorts of stocks like for the Springfield m1903 A1 I got one for 2:45 us along with two handguards still need some fitting and shaving down though
