Hello,

I am looking to get a semi automatic, wood furniture (don't like synthetic), short barreled (20" or less) shotgun. My purpose is primarily target shooting, and the occasional clay pigeon shoot.

I was going to cut down a Remington 11-48 long recoil op. shotty, but I can't bring myself to do that. SO! I am looking for something else. I'm sure there are some oldschool/old-like semi-autos out there?

It needs to be in 12 Gauge, that said, I am content with only 2 3/4" shell length

What makes and models of shotguns are there that would fit my interest? Are there any REALLY short pump actions with butts that you can suggest? (I have short arms, and I found a Maverick 88 Defender hard to grasp and use the pump)

Thanks,
Drach

Not sure about semi's, but how about this Lakefield-Mossberg 400G 12g pump in the EE. Youth model, short 12.5" LOP, 19" barrel, 3" chamber and pretty nice wood. Sounds like it would fit you perfectly and it's cheap. You can always find a semi and lop off 1-2" or so off the buttstock and chop the barrel. His EE sale in linked below:

If you're willing to go to a pump, you can get the 870 clones in 18", 12.5", and even 8" barrels. Dominion Arms (Norinco/Chinese) for cost effectiveness, or DLask (site sponsor) for slick running, lighter, tighter tolerances.

They both come with tactical plastic by default, but because they're 870 clones, it's trivial to track down used wood on the cheap and swap out the furniture. I redid one of the 12.5" grizzlies, and it came out pretty nice (to my eye, anyway, to each their own).

DLask also has pretty affordable Semis with wood furniture, so for the price, you can risk chopping on them...
