I have a CZ shadow line I been considering getting wood grips for, currently it has aluminum. I don't see a big issue with the aluminum but I like the look at wood hence me trying to switch it.

Will It suffer using wood compared to the CZ aluminum grips?

The wood grips are a happy medium between the stock rubber and the aluminum ones. Had them on one of mine for years.

Never been a fan of wood grips on handguns personally. I like the feel of stock rubber ones on my CZ they got my hand perfectly. I don't like the aluminum ones everyone seems to have because of the poor fit to frame, it was obviously not designed for it and I can't get past the exposed part of the frame just in front of the beaver tail that other Grips cover. Glad to see they fixed it on shadow 2.

Nothing wrong with either. I actually prefer the runner grips for competition. The CZ wooden grops on my New Edition are virtually identical in shape to the rubber grips CZ produces so I have left them on. I have Medium Large hands based upon the golf glove I used to wear and find the thin aluminum grips to thin and the checkering to be too aggressive for my liking. All falls to personal preference.

Take Care

I had wood grip on my 40s&w TS. I replaced them with Aluminum which I find are much better to shoot with. For me the grip is better with aluminum.

If wood grips are sealed well and do not have textured grip areas they tend to be very slippery in the hands during conditions where your hands sweat. And if given an oiled finish so they grip well the wood tends to pick up your sweaty salts and skin fats and dirt and become very dark and dirty in short time during the summer. The wood is easy enough to clean and re-oil with a light film of boiled linseed but it's just one more job to do that isn't needed with the other options.

So for competition use I prefer the rubber CZ grips or the texture of the aluminium panels. But for me the aluminium thin grips are too thin and the flat sides don't press against my palms with the same even all around pressure I get from the rubber grips. But I understand that those with smaller hands find that they work well for them.

On guns I don't shoot in serious competitions? On those I don't mind wood at all. Love them in fact.
