I have some Spalted Rosewood grip panels, and I really like the
look of them (some people really hate the look of spalted wood, to each their own), and it makes for a really comfortable grip for target shooting. Hard to describe, but "warm" and smooth, easy on the hands when standing fairly static and punching holes in paper.
HOWEVER:
I took this gun on a CQB course, and quickly found that they just didn't work for that. The grips are just slightly wider, enough so that manipulating the mag release quickly on the clock became just a bit more difficult. And trying to shoot from awkward positions became much more of a chore. Switching back to the factory grips made a world of difference.
So...
It depends on what you want from the gun. The wider grip makes it easier on the hand for static paper punching, but worse handling for 2-Gun, CQB, or 3-gun style "action" shooting.
Haven't tried other grips beyond that, so can't comment on them, really. A lot of it comes down to you, and how things feel in your own hand. The 92 fits my hand better than any Glock or the CZ 75, and I find it generally easier to shoot well than those guns. That doesn't make it better than Glocks or CZ's, it just means it happens to fit my hand better. Small changes in the grips can make a big difference, so the only real way you're going to find out for yourself what works best, is to try different things.
