Looking to by a new hunting rifle. What I really want is a stainless barrel/action and a wood stock. The only two that I've come across is the Browing white gold medeliion and the Weatherby Vanguard. To the people that own either one, do you like it? OR is there some others that I'm missing.

Hope to here from you.

Possibly the nicest stainless/wood rifle out there now is the Remington 700 CDL SF. Very easy on the eyes. Just nabbed a special run version of the CDL SF in 264WM. I've always also liked the Model 70 stainless Classic Featherweights, but those are getting hard to come by now.

BC Bigbore,
Your avatar leaves me speechless! I have developed a sudden interest in those big-boned prairie wimmen! :D

P.S. The CDL SF also comes with the new X-Mark Pro trigger, along with several other flagship offerings from Remington, such as the Sendero SF II and the XCR, I believe.

I have a Ruger 77MkII as my main hunter in stainless. Came with a gray lam stock that is not too hard to look at. Not as nice as a piece of figured walnut but more stable and easier to patch up. I wondered about how it would look but it turned out to not be a problem. Guys at the range seem to like it enough to remark about it so I gues it aint so bad. I did put a wood stock on my Ruger 1022 though. Just not a tupperware lover. Looks real sweet now that it is sporting a nice piece of lumber. Still beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I just know what I like and have learned that is about as far as it goes. So gaze upon the beauty yourself and see if it speaks to you. My $0.02

the CDL SF Ltd is a real nice rifle, I have one in 30-06 but this past spring I replaced the walnut stock with a fiberglass

I have Browning White Gold medallion without BOSS in 30-06. I find it perfect for hunting. Not too light neither too heavy, but its main advantage is Monte-Carlo stock - I could not shoot offhand with all those rem700 and m77 or #1. As for the accuracy, I make 1MOA or better groups of 5 with 110, 150, 180, 190 and 220 grain bullets. When hunting, I apply camo tape for protection.

I have a browning White Gold Medallion with out BOSS in 270WSM. Its a great gun short bolt throw, light, nice wood clean lines and its free floated barrel also it groups use well. Its my wifes gun but I enjoy shooting it as well. Only issue I have with it is that with the WSM round its a little hard to top load with it. But other than that its great. Would recommend to anyway IMHO.

Thanks for all the responses. I did not realize that the remington gun was available (should always look at the new catalogues). I have priced them both and found them to be within 80$. I get a will have to see how the shoulder be I make my decision.

Or get a nice Weatherby Vangaurd Stainless and throw a Boyds laminate stock on it...
