Not bad at all. How does it attach to the tree? I used to weld my own tree stands out of old bed frames and even thought I thought they worked well I found they were too heavy and very hard to put up. I think yours might also be too heavy. As long as you plan to put it up and leave it for most of the season then they are fine but not something you will move around much.
You might try driving two or three nails through the bottom so they protrude towards the tree so when you attach it the nails will dig into the tree. Just a way to make it more stable. When you attach it use a good strap or chain on the top and the stand will be solid once the nails inbed in the tree.
Looks good to me.

Nice try...Welded steel or aluminum would be much safer though. ;)

But if you are going to use them, I suggest you cut some strips of a roofing shingle and apply them to the platform...it will be pretty slippery when they get wet/snow covered without something.

Buy a good safety harness...and USE IT. :)

i built some tree stands in the trees(on property family members owned)

what i built was a double tree stand ( 2x6 x 8 feet long with a plywood top
2x4 on a 45deg below to support it assebled with lag bolts / etc( heavy on the hard ware
most times with a roof 2x4 x 5 ft or more

depending on win direction how i felt was where i sat facing one way or 180 deg the other way

you could also go whole hog and make a tree house style stand and be out of the wind and rain ( burlap or plwood )

ps most of the time was up at least 18-21 ft and had lots of shooting lanes
the area i was in changed /wind/ weather and hunting pressure and if leaves were still in the trees or not and if apples were still in the trees at the edges of the fields

if you made them in the spring / summer they got a chance to age and loose smell
(early spring cleaning up winter storm falls look the same as after the leaves fall)
