Ran into some just before dusk, north of Manigotagan. Long way to travel for an 8 ounce bird.

I hunted woodcock so much in NS that I bought a gun special for it! Love the little buggers and their weird, erratic flight pattern. No need to cut into pieces either.....

I was out for Geese last Saturday and the woodcocks are moving South already here in Ontario, saw quite a few coming in just before sun down. 6 more day until our opener

Are you sure the were woodcock and not snipe? Either way if they're legal game in your area and want to add a couple to the bag to try for the table I would recommend it. They both have unique tastes all their own and some people love it some hate it.
The little buggers sure can be a challenge to hit, and are a good excuse to get a dog out in the uplands. I recommend a dog cause woodcock in particular can be difficult to find after knocking them down.
