Any opinions on the pluses or negatives on putting a pair on a CZ SP-01 Shadow? Waste of money, etc....

I found three manufacturers and am leaning towards the Marschal personally, checkered pattern.
1.Marschal

no idea what their pricing is........yet.

For casual plinking any of them will do fine. For shooting in matches on a hot summer day I'd be sure to get some with good checkering. It's amazing how sweaty your hands get when shooting under a hot sun and with an RO holding a shot timer breathing down your neck.... :D

I've got revolvers with wood grips that work pretty well. My two CZ's have the light plastic grips on one and the heavier rubber grips on another. The soft heavy rubber works very well at providing good grip even when soaking wet. THe plastic ones get pretty slippery. So all in all if you can get OIL FINISHED wood grips with checkering I'd say you will do well. If the grips are varnished and effectively have a shiney plastic coating over them then likely they'll get pretty slippery when your hands are sweaty. The oil finished grips don't seem to get as slippery. LIkely because the wood grain isn't filled in and acts like micro checkering.

I have a set for my CZ75 Shadow from Marschal. They are Wattle wood, stained and made thin. I cannot say enough positive things about these guys. They were great with communication and requests . The options they have to choose from are unreal and in hindsight I should have ordered another set just for fun. They are in Hungary so the grips did take a bit to arrive but worth the wait. IMHO these grips look awesome, feel great. On a hot summer day, although I do not compete yet, they were fine for me. I have received a lot of complements at the range about them as they look as good as the CZ cocabola grips for half the money. I took a pic but my ability with the camera is weak.

Tell us what options you chose ? There are so many it took me a couple of times on the web site looking at pictures to decide. Glad I could help.

I am going to get the Marschal's but I am not sure which model(s) fits the CZ SP-01 Shadow, I sent an email to Dennis but no response yet. I am leaning towards the 1.5mm thin grips but want to make sure that they won't move once on. His website does not list the "shadow" model specifically and I read a thread here that that (loose grips) has happened before to a member on the Shadow model. Jacky, can you tell me which model you ordered for confirmation purposes, your post says "made thin"?

I ordered the same type that fit a CZ75B. They actually fit both guns perfect. I think it is listed as CZ75/85 and they come with a RH thumb notch or not. I noticed as well that the price went up to $68. Still a good deal but I got mine for $20 less. The grips I bought were on my CZ75B and then when I sold it I put them on my Shadow. I haven't had an issue, they are on tight.

I noticed on the site they offer a option CZ75/85/SP01 thin. This was not an option when I ordered. I had to make a request for the thin.

I think I would order that set. I believe the official name is CZ75 SP01 Shadow so that would fit the description.

I want guys to post some pics of the grips they buy. I love looking at all the options. All this talk of grips makes me want to order another set.

Wenge, badinga and a few others look really good. I like working with purpleheart wood and have made a few things with it but I would not use it for grips.
