WooHoo! my 280 Rem and my 30-06 Classic are worth keeping.

Been fiddling with these 2 700 Remingtons a bit, looking for a very accurate load that is not just lazing along.

The 280 is an older BDL, and is marked "7mm Express" rather than "280 Remington"
The 140 Accubond, chased by 60 grains of H4831sc, makes 2995 fps, and shoots under 1 moa right out to 400M.
The 160 Accubond, using 57 grains of the same is also very accurate, and is over 2800 fps.

My 30-06, with the 165 Partition and 60 grains of Superformance, is right at 2900, and the groups are exactly 1 moa out to 400

Thinking these will do the job just fine. Now to locate a young Bull Moose. [Or a nice elk]

My Remington 700 BDL SS is my go to rifle with Barnes 140 grain TTSX pushed to over 3000 fps with Re19.
Topped it off with a Leupold VX-6 2-12 power and KORTH cut the turret.



Set up a target at 400 yards and the first shot out of a cold barrel was 2 inches left . . . still a MOD (minute of deer).

There is some Superformance data on Hodgdon's reloading website for the 30-06 with 165 and 180 grain bullets.

Dave, I like Super and H4350 for my .30/06 loads... I use 61.5 grains of Super with the 165 IB bullet seated out in my No.1... the load is a peach. 59.0 grains of H4350 with SST's in my M77... again, it is a shooter. We have a bull tag for the fall but it is for archery, so neither load is eating moose... but maybe a late season flop-head... the .30/06's have to compete with a few more interesting rifles on deer.

What's the barrel length for the 06?

24" barrel on this '06. I have actually reached 3000 with the 165 Ballistic Tip and IMR 4831 in this rifle, but accuracy was not stellar.
