Good day, I'm contemplating a Woox Gladiatore forend for my 590A1 trench gun. I have a question, the main basis for my contemplation is that I believe the m-lock slots on the pump handle would be an improvement, giving me the ability to mount a flashlight or laser. However, I've never run a shotgun with such items attached to the pump handle.

Guys, do I want sh1t mounted to the pump handle or is that going to be nothing but a nuisance and a hang up frustration?

Internet pic, 'cause I know how you guys like pics.

I don’t know, that forend looks monstrous as it is. Can’t imagine anything else attached to it.

In my opnion, sh1t mounted to pumps, particularly the sides, sucks. It causes it to feel clumsy and un balanced and it can have a tendency to snag if you are using a sling.
While I think the WOOX pump is seriously sweet, I would not put a light on it.

Lights on Shot guns are always an annoying task I find. The advantage to having it on the pump is the ability to activate it with your hand, but it comes at the cost of bulk/balanc issues. Having the light mounted further down the barrel/ magtube is nice but then it requires a remote switch so you dont have to take your nad off the pump grip.

Personally I prefer an all in one unit like the Racker of the surefire.

I went this route with my Tac-14. I can install that mount and light pretty easily if needed .... and remove it again if not needed ....

With all the recoil .... I am not sure I would want my hand to get slammed into an M-LOK rail with every shot ....

I don’t find a light gets in the way, but I have them mounted either like 0faustaus0 or off the mag tube extension clamp. They aren’t mounted to the forend, although I have done that in the past as well. If you get a low profile light it’s not an issue, a big mount and light can be heavy/bulky. Pick your light wisely and it won’t be an annoyance, lights are nice when you go out at night to make sure that skunk isn’t in the chicken coop.

The farther forward you mount it the less shadow the end of the muzzle and mag tube will cast while the light is on.

I ran a ProTac on an SF rm45 pic mount then on an Arisaka mlok mount with the Magpul forend. I didn't find it snagged on things or unbalanced anything. Mounted high and tucked in tight it was pretty damn good. Clicky tailcap was right there and the low profile of the Arisaka mount didn't finger bang my thumb. I still have that setup but got a racker to try for now as well. I say do it, go with a quality scout style light on an offset mount and either use the clicky tailcap or a hot button.
