when you are working up a load.. how often do you clean your barrel..?
Do you give it a good scrub or just wipe it out...?
will my bore snake work every 5 shots or so...?

I do not want to clean the #### out of it because clean barrels don't shoot but...whats dirty?..

please help??
Thanks
James

Just shoot moly coated bullets and don't worry about cleaning.
I went 900 rounds before cleaning and shounld not have done it then.
New barrel going on in a few weeks and I will keep shooting it until the groups open up or the rounds won't fit.

Moly has a few of its own problems as well, but you're right you don't have to clean as often. It really depends on how much you shoot, which bullets you're shooting, velocities as well as your tolerance for accuracy dispersion. Normally I clean after 20-25 rounds. If i'm going to hunt with the rifle, usually I will shoot it for a couple of rounds then run a dry brush through it and leave it until the season is over maybe running a 5% Kroil/alcohol soaked swab through the bore if the weather has been wet. As mentioned above without moly coat, most rifles start to build up both copper and powder fouling to the point accuracy becomes erratic. Yes there is the exception to every rule, but those dream rifles are very uncommon. Bearhunter

Thanks guys...

I am looking for some kind method

I have about 200 rounds to fire this weekend ....39 and 32 grain bullets with 2 different types of powder...

I figuire I will shoot a groop with one powder charge 5 shots each with 2 bullets and run the bore snake through it...10 more same thing,,,

I was thinking of cleaning the #### out of it when I switch too 32 grain bullets and do it again...

what do you think??????

Depends on your gun, really. Most guns I've shot don't perform best when completely clean. So if you do clean it, make sure to run 10 or so fouling shots through it before starting on your groups again.

I keep a box of moly'd ammo around for this purpose. I don't normally shoot moly'd rounds, but after a fresh cleaning I'll run 10 or so through as foulers before I start on the groups.
