In the order as they appeared on the results sheets, I am too tired and beat to worry about it. Let me say up front that I was extremely proud of the work this group of shooters did. The comraderie was unbelievable, we all loaded together, partyed together, had an "occasional" soft drink together, in other words it was a blast. And all of the shooters there for Canada after the match talked about going to Germany in two years. That should give you an idea of the fun had by all.

I do not have the 100yd results. We had 2 misfortures in the 100yd LV, Rob had a bullet from hell went up a inch, and Homer touch the trigger as he was running his group and picked another inch. Me I just shot absolutly horrible at the 100yd LV.

Bill thanks for all your support and efforts which made this shoot possible. Hats off to a good shoot.

All I can say is I wish the wheels didn't fall off my wagon during this shoot.......but they did and well pull it together for 2007 - Germany.

Way to go guys and gal. Thanks for representing Canada. Maybe one day!!!! I may have my turn. Impressive shooting Bill. Joe, if possible could we get some names to the faces. I recognize 2!!!!!!!

Now that is what I call a range. Sure would nice to see one of these up in every province in Canada. I just might have to put a roof over my one lane 600 yarder at the farm.

WOW  :D :D

Now isn't that a nice mothball........a well tuned rifle coupled with someone who can steer bullets in winds that can easily give you a 1.6" group (or more)....trust me I know

What do the numbers mean beside the names?
Is it better to have a higher number or a lower number?

That is where they placed in the field of shooters so lower number is better. Again let me state in public that I was very proud of the close association, the comerradery and the performance of the Canadian Teams. We loaded together, drank soft drinks together, except for Clayton and his demon rum. We did not allow any of the other teams to touch our soft drinks because they are not use to our caffeine levels, EH! Looking forward to Germany in 2007

Great shooting. could you tell us alittle bit about your's and the teams equipment?
Barrel
action
scope
stock
gunsmith
I assume you were shooting the 6mm PPC.

P.S. I don't there there was enough Wind flag at the event LOL

I assume you were shooting the MM PPC.

I think Alex Calder was the only one shooting a non 6PPC and I believe he was shooting 6VS which is a Vic Swindlehurst configuration
Barrels
Between Kreigers and MacLennan
Actions
Stolle and a Bat and MacLennan
Scopes
Mostly Leups
Stocks
Take your pick, My two LV are the new TM (Kelbly Manufacture) stocks, WHICH I REALLY LIKE, My HV is an original Adamovich
Gunsmiths
Again take your pick
Rob does his barrels for my actions and if I use Kreigers, John Pierce in Grand Rapids MI.
I read on an earlier post about gunsmiths and here is some advice. A good machinist can chamber a barrel but a gunsmith can do a better job because of his knowledge of what the firearm is suppose to do. A "GOOD" BR gunsmith can sit down with you and discuss timing, lock time, rate of pin travel, spring rates, weights and how to measure all of the above, plus. Now all of this stuff don't mean diddly-squat on a hunting rifle. Like the guy with a .338 moose rifle really cares that he is only getting travel of .270 on the pin when he should be getting .290 and like it won't ignite properly so he will have to move the trigger back .020 he lines up on a moose at 200yds pulls the trigger and the moose falls down. His firearm has done the job it was suppose to do. Good gunsmith for him, bad for us. Enough rambling

Wow,, inquring minds would like to know...

Hey Bill,

Can you tell us how you did this record group... you know shot by shot, You likely remember most of the 10 and the sighters. did you run the condition, hold for shots, how much?, stop and check the sighter then pick? Was this your Adamawitz heavy or TM stock? How did your bags stay. You know, what was the range condition(s), did you wait and fire near the end of the time?

It looks like there was a pretty good left to right blow at the time.

It would make a great read... inquiring minds....Then maybe we could come close to doing it too :)

Norm
let me say this up front, you are a D__K H____D, it's alright people, we have known each other and shot with each other for 20 years. Norm as you well know I try to keep my groups in the mothball, especially at 200yds but the condition would not let up. I was going to crank in, but decided not to because it was only an 1 1/2" left to right and I could live with that dropped five down there , condition picked up, was going to go with another 1/2" hold but decided against that, waited, looked like it drop down a bit, tried the sighter, it looked the same and then ran the other five. I knew the load was too hot because I mention that to Rob on the last group before that and if "you" look at that group you will see it was a tad on the hot side. Now I know that Norm knows what I am talking about.
To answer your second question, you know it was my Adamovich
Third question
You also know that I am a bag squeezer.
Other question
I can never understand why people wait until the last 30 seconds to drop their group. Lester, Tony, Allie and Ron are great for this but you have to remember they shot about 5000 rounds a year in practice not counting matches. Tony goes through about 20 to 30 barrels a year just to find one to shoot 1 match and the one thing that these shooters have is the ability to memorize each shot on their sighter to the prevailing condition. The only reason that Tony uses a Farley Rest now is because his left hand has arthritis but he has been a bag squeezer since day one.
Where is my JD

RE... Record 10 shot group...

Thanks Bill, Not for the DH comment:eek:

Can I pick your brain a little more? So you basically did the group in 2 parts ...the first 5 and the second 5. About how long did it take to shoot each..25sec? Did the first 5 make the group or was it smaller than the final result. What was it like shooting the last shot:rolleyes: ?

People think these groups just happen because you have a BR rifle, this discussion may help show the details involved in doing it, and another thing...boy I can tell you shooting 10 is a lot tougher than shooting 5.

Nice work!!!

Just teasing, Norm

Can I pick your brain a little more? So you basically did the group in 2 parts ...the first 5 and the second 5. About how long did it take to shoot each..25sec?

I got the first 5 off in about 30 sec or so, I was taking my time because the condition looked like it was hanging around. The last 6 (1 on the sighter to be sure)in about 13 sec. The condition came back twice but would only stay for about 10 or 15 seconds. when it came back the third time I jumped on it.

Did the first 5 make the group or was it smaller than the final result.

Nope, the first group basically was the group

What was it like shooting the last shot:rolleyes: ?

It took the team 1/2 hour to get the stool out of my butt, and you know what I am talking about.:D

Just a little funny on this Stan Buchtel and Walt Berger wanted to bet me a hundred dollars I could not put the 11th shot in, I was temped but ran out of time.

People think these groups just happen because you have a BR rifle, this discussion may help show the details involved in doing it, and another thing...boy I can tell you shooting 10 is a lot tougher than shooting 5.

You got that right, Norm

Nice work!!!

NormB, how is old Clayton Martin doing these days... I have not shot with you guys in a good 6 years. I'll have to get my SORSA membership again for '06.

P.S. Do you still go to the gun shows?

SORSA Contact... Murray Long... 519-941-4812

Yeah, I go to gunshows, but during shooting season, matches are also on Sunday's...so I miss a lot. Haven't displayed lately. There is one in Orangeville Dec 04.
