Just like others have said, antlers go to the shooter and meat is split. Owner's PoV is probably that she already used her tag up, just wants to increase his odds at a buck(to use his tag) and give her a chance to shoot, and only to shoot. But that should be made clear before hand.

Personally don't think it matters if 1st buck or not(it's just worse if first buck), shooter gets it. Don't even understand why people care for antlers so much. Unless I shot the deer myself or found the shed, I wouldn't want it. There's thousands of deer no big deal if meaningless(of course could be a story behind a buck and being handed to you as a gift or something).

What's he going to do with them? Shove them up his ass? lol

Don't really know what he could say. I mean sometimes it's better to clarify things beforehand, most people would agree antlers go to the shooter but for either side should make it clear before hand.

Still if he saw it only as a chance to get more people shooting to fill his tag for HIS meat, should make that clear. If he's greedy about meat, so be it, can keep it.. but the antlers.. kind of messed up.
 
I'm gonna see how things go. Hopefully the guy comes around and gives her the antlers. She's really into the whole spiritual part of hunting so they're especially important to her.

I'm actually surprised that waterfowler hasn't suggested I should jizz on his table yet...
 
It would suck to slag the guy and then he shows up one day and hands her her first deer head, mounted.

Any chance this may be the case?

I'm gonna take a wild guess that when she asked him who he used as a butcher and he responded "Non of your f**king business" it's probably an indicator that's not what's going on. :(

Actually... If necessary I have the head from the one in my avvy available... It's wired to a tree letting nature take its course... But i could send it out if you need.. Antlers that is... It was a nice 4 pt
 
I already talked to her and I'll be getting her a few sets of antlers. I'm good friends with my butcher... ;) She's pretty excited about having a rack to put up over her front door.

I appreciate the offers both in the thread and via PM buit I'll make sure she gets lots of venison this season and I'm going to try to set her up for a late season deer with the ML or bow....

Just outta curiosity, how does he manage that? Hunters bringing the deer in and not wanting the antlers or? I know not necessarily everyone cares about collecting or if small ones or something.
 
Wow hard to believe there's people out there like that!!!

Took a young man out hunting thursday. He used my saddle,horse,gun and boots. He shot his first whity a 4x3 and was so proud. Today we cut and wrapped HIS meat and he took the whole thing home. I'm doing a european mount for him when I get time.

Anybody ever got an honest hand shake from a 15 year old man ? For me that's payment enough.

Oh did I mention I'm one of them crazy horse people.;)
 
Maybe the buck was bigger than anything the "A-hole" ever shot, and maybe he was jellous?

Some people just dont deserve the company of good people!

Personally, I have every set of antlers from ever buck I've ever harvested. A lot of guys don't even want the racks though, especially if they are small deer. There were at least 40-50 racks in the bin when I was there a few days ago.

FWIW I never hunt with other guys. I am too selfish.

Back to my point; if you guys had not used her tag, then where does this story go? She gets to shoot her own deer.

We all learned somewhere and shared tags at one point or another... At least those of us who were priveledged enough to have good buddies and good parents

There is nothing selfish about cutting your own tags.
Seems to me it's somewhat more legal in this fine province of ours.
I am totally surprise this thread hasn't been locked. :eek:
