Hunter's are responsible for their own tags.

In Ontario, the group can work collectively to fill tags. The member whose tag you fill must be present and actively involved in the hunt. Doe tags (which may be also used on bucks and fawns) are by draw and anyone can shoot a buck so those who were unlucky in the draw or forgot to apply only get to shoot bucks. By using up the buck tags first we increase the chances for everyone versus using doe tags on antlered deer.

I pack a pair of deer tags and Junior does the same.
Muley and whitetail each.
So in essence four deer tags for one house hold.
What a waste of frink'in $$.
I figure if we cut one tag, this is enough deer for one season for
our consumption.

Gotta love how the westerners jump on party hunting 9/10 in an Ontario hunting thread. Jesus Christ its legal here...

This was taken out of the OMNR regs...

Party Hunting
A person may hunt moose, deer or black bear in a party even
if the person has previously attached his or her game seal to a
moose, deer or black bear.

You dont see us going over to Huntingbc.ca and blabbing in every gdamn thread about you guys not wearing pumpkin vests...

I hope you put the lady on a ML Whitetail, she'll like that. Oh and kick that sheep shagging, horse wrangler in the nuts when you see him next.

I actually eat a couple of them myself each year. We all have to have licenses and tags so there's no money saved and I buy an additional archery/muzzleloader only tag each year. Not too many of our tags ever go to waste... ;)

Ya and before you were proved wrong it was "my fine province" this and that and basically demeaning the OP for his actions.

Sorry if I blew a shift there, I just see it happen a lot around here. :cheers:
 
Well its just one of those hard lessons she'll have to live with. If she gets a picture framed it has the same worth as an antler. Take her out for an xbow deer, it will be twice as exciting for her if she does get one at close range. Just a tip though, when you take her out next time, do NOT bring up that deer or the farmer. Its just going to stick in her head everytime she thinks of deer hunting and it will all be just one big bad experience. Trick is, is if she gets even a 5pt, you have to make it seem like the best thing in the world since sliced bread. And I'd think twice about getting her replacement antlers, she may see them as a reminder of her first deer hunt where she got ####ed.
 
Gebus that horse guy needs a kick in the nards... Good on ya for getting her out & onto some opportunities. Hope the chat with "kick in the nards horseguys wife" results in her getting her share of the meat from the 4 point... (I wouldn't count on it, but hope it happens...) And, she now knows NOT to hunt with that arsehole ever again!

P.S. For guys not in Ontario, party hunting & putting your tag on another deer is common place here. To legally continue hunting EVEN AFTER you've 'punched' your tag, you only need to hunt WITH SOMEONE who still has a valid tag... Hence, no one puts a doe tag on a buck IF they can put one of their partys buck tags on it. The hunter, who's tag is being put on the deer MUST be present, you can't have an inventory of tags in your pocket, you MUST be hunting together!

Ah lol. If the a**hole just wants antlers and hers are pretty much meaningless to him ("look these are the antlers I stole from some chick new to hunting") and you can get some from your butcher.. what about offering a couple pairs for hers? And definitely agree with people saying that she should stay away from the prick(for her volunteering or such).

Just seems like could be a viable solution if he can't be reasoned with giving them back to her.

The kind of person who wants the head and/or rack of a deer he didn't shoot. I.e. some kind of alien. I don't understand that. If I knew somebody like that I'd be the jerk who always pesters him in the company of others, "Hey, show us that really nice trophy rack you didn't shoot." "Tell us the story of that time someone else shot that deer you have the trophy from."
