For the first time in Canadian history, we have a World championship and Canadians are not participating! http://www.galtsportsmensclub.com/Worlds/worlds.php You get to shoot great targets at reasonable cost and meet and mingle with some great shots, including George Digweed MBE! His humour is something to experience. He might even try to beat his 135 yard teal shot! I will cajole him to try it! Ontario with the most clay shooters in Canada has a pittance that has signed up! You can sign up at http://www.winscoreonline.com/ There are plenty of cheap hotels in the area but you have to book now as it is a very busy place due to the car industry!

I think maybe a bit more info is needed, such as what are the rules for World English Sporting Clays, what do you have to shoot, how many targets, etc. I know that the info provided is probably enough for those that shoot all the time, but I find it a bit confusing. I would appreciate some help as myself and some members from my club are considering shooting this event. Can we sign up as a squad or are we squaded by the people at the event,as this would also effect our decision,is there different gauge classes. Thanks in advance for any info.

You can shoot all of the events (Prelim 100 targets, 5 Stand 100 targets, FITASC 100 targets,Main Event 200 targets) or whatever events you choose. When you register on Winscore, you can ask to be squadded with your buddies. There are no different gauge classes, but shooters are classed based on their average or known ability. Sign up and go, you will have a good time.

I would have probably gone if they would have had given enough info earlier. I registered in November to the 2013 Western US Open which is taking place at the same time. The World English seems as of right now more of a Canadian Championship than a World Championship. Last year, I was registered for the North American Big shoot in Alberta which was also supposed to bring George Digweed and it was cancelled. Once bitten twice shy.

I'll be there; coming from Alberta. I registered several months ago. I figured it would be the most inexpensive opportunity to shoot on a world stage that I'm likely to see.

World English

Compared to the so called World in San Antonio where it was CPSCA versus NSCA, this is a World Federation Sanctioned event. There are teams from several countries already signed up. I think that the NSCA is sending a team as I have had several requests for info from the Team logistic person. Winscore makes it easy to shoot with your mates, just ask! For some strange reasons, all sign ups are vetted by the club. So, it takes a few weeks before your inscription is posted on the winscore website! None of the teams registered are posted on winscore, as it cannot handle that right now. Galt has the facilities for a World class event. It is in our backyard! It is your once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot a World without having to travel half way across the World!

Main event is CNSCA classes. Side events are NSCA class. Even though we have a Canadian sanctioning body, to placate a few they have chosen to use NSCA for the side events.

The CPSA sends a team to San Antonio when the NSCA hosts the "Worlds" just to play nice. They actually recognize the ICTSF Worlds as the official Sporting Clay Championship. It would be nice if the Canadian shooters would recognize the shoot in Ontario as the "World" championship

Teams from Ireland, and Australia have registered.
Many Americans.
Some Canadians, received word today the English are putting their team together.
MR. Peckham the target setter sends his regards, promises that he will set targets that will make you wonder why you missed, more then wonder how to hit them.
Dave is a fantastic targets setter, look forward to his efforts.

Fantastic!! So why is there no ifo on this great event on any of the national organizations websites. CFI, CSSA, NFA

We will be there .

Wow, that would sure be an event to attend! I wish I could get in on that one, not just to
see & meet all the fine folks there, but to shoot in a style I've never tried before.
What a neat way to see if I could adapt my sorry ass to something other than American
Trap type shooting. I do ok at meat shoots & Annie's though.
Have fun you lucky buggers.......Dang.:)

GD is coming with Jamie Brightman, an excellent shot. He even bests GD sometimes. They both have a wicked English humour and I will probably be the brunt of it as we are staying together at the same hotel. Can someone tell me how long does it take to drive Monday morning from Kitchener to downtown TO? Or on a Sunday night?
Thanks,
Henry

The World FITASC has 1200 participants of which 40 or so have a chance to win medals. Why does it fill up? The enjoyment of experiencing the venue, targets, cultural experience and people! You may also be squadded with one of the best shooters in the World! No pre qualifying is required! So, we now have a World in Canada and Canadian clay shooters are not signing up. It is probably your once in a lifetime experience, in your backyard!

... Can someone tell me how long does it take to drive Monday morning from Kitchener to downtown TO? Or on a Sunday night?Thanks,Henry...

Henry: K-W to downtown TO is just a bit over 100 k. IFtraffic is good, Sunday evening ... maybe an hour & a half or
a little longer ... but then there's summer weekend home-bound traffic to contend with. Monday morning - commute can be the same, maybe an hour and a half depending on how early you leave K-W, or if tied up eastbound for whatever reason, it can run 2 hours +++.
Sorry to be so unspecific, but traffic into TO can be a challenge with holiday traffic and the inbound commuters no matter what.
If you can hold your departure until 8:30 a.m or so from K-W, a 10:00 to 10:30 arrival downtown TO is doable as most of the rush hour is over. An accident on the 401 or 427 can tie things up however. Be prepared.

This is the "only" reason I shoot Henry. But it's obvious not everyone shoots for the same reasons we do.

Don't forget Monday is a Stat holiday. So there won't be a Monday morning rush hour. But there will be long weekend traffic all day. So what I'm saying is that the early morning traffic won't be as bad (no rush hour) but the rest of the day will be worse than normal non-rush-hour traffic.
