World Shoot XV (Indonesia)

hmm my bad I thought I was told it was the Christian island. there goes the upside down cross. I guess I'll stick with the infidel shirt. (NOT!)

so when do we find out the scoop on teams and such?

Take this with however many grains of salt you wish, but they do have a strong cultural bias against pointy teeth. It is shocking and repulsive to them.

G'day fellas,

The Bali Level 4 was a hoot and I am sure that WS will be even better. The range girls are almost as good as Ecudor's were Slavex :)

Bali itself (Kuta beach) is a complete and utter ####hole full of obnoxious drunk Australian's - there simply isn't any cultural sensitivity left sadly. Sanur beach where the match hotel is more expensive but much nicer - think Tahiti. I stayed at a 3.5 star hotel across the road from the match hotel and it about $20 per night. Quality was about on a par with the Aussie team hotel in Ecuador. If you want to save some money, you can also rent a bungalow literally right next door to the match hotel for about $50US per night and they sleep around 8. The trick is to make your hotel bookings from Canada but make sure they are flexible so you can cancel them. When you get there, just walk the street and ask at the local hotels what rate they can do. The tourist industry is severly depressed there at the moment and the hotels jump over themselves to offer you cheap rates. But they won't give them to you from a distance. Trust me on this, though, there are LOADS of hotel rooms available locally so insist on a cancellation policy on your booking.

Oh - and absolutely definately do not go NEAR any substance other than liquor whist you are there. The local dope peddlars are paid to entrap tourists and you will end up in a world of hurt or dead if you are playing with the hard stuff. Otherwise, the place is safe as houses except for the occasional bomb in Kuta itself :)

Enjoy!

Guys - FWIW, the hotel we stayed in last time was the "Ari Putri" hotel on Sanur beach. It is literally about 200m from the front door of the match hotel so walking over to pick up your gun in the morning is a no brainer - esp since the buses leave from there anyway. It cost us $20US per night in 2004 if you booked locally, I would expect a little higher cost now though, esp if you book online instead of at the door.

The hotel is run by a German speaking doctor and is very popular with German tourists, especially of the mid 30's tall leggy kind :) Make sure they have disinfected the poolside bar since last time we were there though....

Sadly Rob, I won't be coming this time around as I am on a break from IPSC for a while. I've been doing lots of hunting instead and not too much time for the pistols at the moment.

Don't suppose there is any chance you are going to drop down to Perth after Bali is there? It's only a 90 minute flight...

####ty dude, too bad you're not coming! I wish I could drop down, I do intend to come crash on your couch at some time though dude!

dude I think I just drooled on my keyboard!!!! maybe in 09 after the whole married thing happens.

um if you look up one post you'll see that Marcus was there recently. I also checked his hotel and the rates are $24USD a night. so long as the roaches aren't bigger than me, and know to stay off the bed, I know where I'll be staying.
