Hello all. Just started the daunting task of prepping a whole pile of 223 brass. I had always wanted to try one of these units and I think this may be the perfect time. I kniw that they make a WFT and a WFT2. I am just looking for the first series unit. I have spent the better part of this evening looking through several of the site sponsor's websites and don't see anyone even carrying them. Does anyone have a lead or a line on one of these. I have found the series 2 but would prefer the first series/generation. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Little Crow Gunworks. Order direct, that's what I did. Shipping is a bit steep so order accordingly. I ordered a WFT2, 3 different inserts, spare cutter and spare parts. None of that ITAR nonsense to worry about. Be aware that the WFT2 is a 1/2" shank, you'll need a bigger drill to fit it on. Also, it spits shavings like crazy, look up home made shields made from pop bottles. Works perfectly, you have to keep the shoulder clean inside the trimmer to ensure consistent trim lengths. It's no Giraud, but at least LCG ships to Canada.

I found the price a little proud, so I made my own. Someone pointed me in the direction of "the world's cheapest trimmer" on eBay a while later, not sure how great they are though. Guessing they get the job done if bulk processing brass

Go for the Giraud Tri-Way Trimmer it chamfers and inside and deburs the outside in one step. I own the WFT but the Tri-Way will probably save so much more prep time. Just ensure your shoulders are all equal, because both WFT and the Giraud indexes off of the shoulders based on a FL sides case.

I got my wft2 directly from lcgw. I got the trimmer body, a spare cutter and 3 inserts. Even when the dollar was really bad it was still less than getting it in Canada. X reload carries the entire line if you want to buy in Canada .

I got one from X reload , love it , so much I got the 308 and 7mm collets as well (wft2), very quick and consistent , but To do over I would get one for each caliber - it's a pain to reset depth each change

My WFT for 223 has arrived.

Instructions for adjusting the trim length states:

"Adjusting your trimmer will be simplified by using a master sized case. A master sized case is a cartridge that has been sized in your dies and is at nominal trim length."

Is it as simple as using a full length resized case at SAAMI spec length 1.760" (or close to) to adjust the trimmer?

Yes, however there will be a bit of a difference between your master gauge and your actual trim length, but only a couple of thousands if you set it up properly. What I have also found is that once it's set up the cutting length will be similar between inserts, so for example if you set up near max length in .223 and put in the .308 insert it should also cut near max length. I adjusted mine once and haven't touched it since. I just change inserts and have at it.
