Worn hammer nose?

Ok, this is kind of (ok really) pissing me off.

I just finished up this rifle a few months ago but hadn't really got to play much.

It's:

Norinco receiver
Bula forge bolt and 22 inch barrel
USGI gas system, flash hider, sights
Winchester USGI trigger housing with (I think) HR hammer (I say I think but it says HR on the front face) and unknown USGI other trigger bits
Dlask oprod
USGI fiberglass stock (piece of shlt, gotta get a new one) and a JAE-100 stock (thing is heavy)

Anyways, took it out a few months back and had feed problems. Played with a few things and that seemed mostly fixed.

Then got eject problems (brass jamming up on ARMS scope mount and oprod).

Then noticed, when I played with my friends m305, that mine was very hard to c0ck. So hard that if I don't jerk the oprod handle, it hangs up before the bolt totally unlocks. And there's no way I can open it without letting go and trying again.

It was also jammed up occasionally with hand loads (41 grains h4895 and 150 gr fmjbt). One time it jammed up so bad I had to smack the oprod handle with a loaded mag (I know I know). Oddly enough, it worked perfect with Norinco surplus ammo.

Pulled it apart and, lo and behold, the hammer nose was pretty banged up looking. I'll post pics, let me know if this is at all normal. If not (I'm sure it isn't), what gives? I can't imagine this is just a "bad hammer" though maybe it was worn or screwed up before I got it.

When I put the Norinco trigger group back in, it's not easy to c0ck but it's comparable to my friend's gun. But my Norinco trigger group has a front sear that's angled, so I don't much want to use it. May switch the hammer over but I am trying to stay away from Norinco parts on this gun except the receiver.

What you guys think? Any of you pro's have a USGI hammer kicking around you are just dying to sell to someone like me?

The hammer is unserviceable by reason of the chipped/deformed bolt camming lug. The front face of the hammer is burred and deformed as well. You need to replace the hammer and then verify functioning. Garand hammers are interchangeable with M14 hammers. Member josey wales has been selling NOS Italian made Garand hammers. The front face of the hammer and the bolt camming lug which are impacted by the rear of the bolt should always be greased to facilitate smooth functioning and minimize wear on these surfaces.

That's the weird part, I grease the crap out of my gun. Probably too much grease as the bottom of the ARMS mount has some off spray.

Ah well, I messaged josey, thanks for the response

Show us a picture of the rear end of your Bula Forge bolt.

Bah just put the gun back together and away lol

I can say the back of the bolt looks pretty damn perfect. A little finish rubbed off on the bottom rear edge and on the hammer nose camming ramp.

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I think that it came like that and I just didn't notice. Or maybe it was damaged better and the PO of the trigger filed it down to make it look better but was into soft metal? Or changed the angle so it was bad.

I do know the hammer had wear on the finish when I got it but truth be told I didn't inspect it that close

Could this happen from having the stock improperly bedded? Like of the trigger is too high up in the stock perhaps?

I know the USGI stock I got from the guy is probably the crappiest bedding job I've seen on a rifle (can't even call it bedding, more like filling).

I'm gonna try to source a USGI wood stock before Barney comes here maybe he'll have time to give some tips on bedding ;)

I do have a jae stock that I put the gun into for now. With the Norinco trigger group in it, it's much smoother. Don't know for sure if it's perfect or not but I don't think I'll have it out before the clinic so no way damage can be done
