Worst/Best .22 Ammo You Have Ever Fired?

Worst: Remington CBee's out of three box of 100 I had something like 74 misfires, with three different guns.

I'll second that. and trump it with an even worse one. CB shorts. You can hardly hear them (good) but they can't make it to the 20 yds line unless you shoot at the sky with a 45 degrees angle. (Bad, very bad indoors)

Best:
22LRStinger.jpg

but more expensive................

The Russian ammo was called Vostok IIRC.
Yes this was horrid rimfire ammunition. FTF at least 5-8 per 50 for sure. But it's been a very very long time since I've seen this brand in stores.

I remember that crappy Vostok 22 ammo,..about 1968-1969 , bought a few boxes when i was a farmboy at Castor Alberta

Eley Tenex, line 2, shot 3 inch groups at 50 yards in a Unique T_SM and sub 0.2's in a Suhl 150. The variance was absolutely astonishing.

I haven't really used any high end 22lr ammunition, with SK Standard Plus being the best that I have used. It averages around .25" at 50 yards in my Anschutz, and around .4" in my Cooper Sporter. The worst was either Remington Thunderbolts, or Winchester Wildcats, as neither shot well in my guns, and fouling was terrible. They jammed up my semi autos very quickly.

In my Ruger 10/22 DSP

Best: CCI Mini Mags
Worst: Anything with Remington written on the box. The Thunderbolts are the only bullets to ever gum up the 10/22.

stubblehurdler, try some eley green box in that beautifull anschutz of yours. you will be very very pleasantly surprised, you can order it from Peter for about $4.50 a box if you buy enough. well worth the price for the hours of fine shooting it will give you.

This is the ammo I put through my Hammerli 150 on a regular basis.
As of right now, my best groups average 6 inches or so from one handed 50 meter standing position. Iron sights of course.
Was recommended to me by better pistol shooters than myself.
BTW try Winchester Power Point product code: X22LRPP for small game. These are copper plated, plenty of smack for gophers/rabbits and pretty darn good accuracy out to 200 yards if you want or need it in your dedicated bolt action target rifles. That's all I use in my 10/22 these days. (this for hunting, this one the 10/22, is not for 200 yard paper targets)

In order for you to convince me that you can shoot .08"groups at 100 yards with a 10/22, I would have to register well over .08 alcohol in my system.

My 10-22 will put 25 rounds inside an inch at 100 if I do my part. It is modded though. With Federal Bulk too. Hell, I used to hit pennies with my old bone stock one back in the day. Depends on the gun, but more importantly the shooter.

I think he means .08m not .08inch

.08m = 8mm or .315".

.315" would be good for a five shot group at 100 yards with a top quality gun and quality ammunition. With a 10/22T and bulk 555 loads it would be a miracle.

I could care less who is shooting the gun, or what mods the 10/22 has, or what loads you use, .08" is a far cry from 1".

I am going to try some higher quality RWS that Peter has coming in. For the price, it is supposedly quite good. I do also intend on buying a couple of boxes of of Midas + just to test my Anschutz and Cooper rifles. I want to see just how good they are, and how good I am. My Cooper came with about a .130"" test group fired at 50 yards, with the Midas +, so I want to see how close I can come to that with the 3-9 scope.

You can thank me later...

You are right, I missed a decimal point, when I converted from meters to inches.

If he did mean meters, he would likely be one of the very first people on the forum not to specify a group size in inches. And if he did mean meters, a 3.15" group certainly wouldn't say much about the bulk 555 being good ammunition.;)
