Worst/Best .22 Ammo You Have Ever Fired?

cci stinger - by far the best ammo I have shot. it wasn't the most accurate, but the gopher impacts are spectacular, almost approaching .17 territory...
worst was remington viper, jammed, inaccurate, ftf,fte out the @ss

Remington Thunderbolts suck. CCI Stingers are great. Eley Tenex rocks. Winchester Dynapoint has proved a decent middle of the road choice for my .22's.

Hi guys,

When you say .22 ... is it .22lr ou .22mag ??

In my case, i own a Savage Mark2 TR in 22lr.

The worst ammo i fired with that gun : b:
1- Rem Thunderbolt : ugly groupings and gummy barrel
2- Rem Target : bad grouping and it smell like junk
3- American Eagle : poor acuracy and missfires, ammo defects...

The best :
1- CCI Std Vel : VG accuracy and clean barrel + cheap 6$/100
2- CCI Green Tag : VVG accuracy (lil'better than CCI Std) but 16$/100
3- Fed 525 value pack : think its the best bang form the buck + they sale them everywhere

But this is for my gun. Maybe with another gun that will be another story.
Like you see mine like CCI's but i have to make more testing with others ammos. I want to try some Eley Club and Eley Target. My Tr really like 40 grains bullets with Std velocity...

Love .22lr discussions...I'll always throw in my two bits.

Best bang for the buck quality/accuracy/reliable feeds/least duds...

CCI Blazers...then American Eagle both in 40grn. round nose.

The absolute worst experience...Winchester 333 or 555 packs....duds galore!!!

I too had an absolutely terrible experience with Remington Thunderbolts; easily 10% (I'm being generous) wouldn't go off. This was 10+ years ago and I still shudder when I see them.

+1 on the Federal Bulk Copper-Washed stuff... love it.

Well, since I am widely recognized as the "warning shot" king and fine ammo expert of all time..... drum roll please.... I can only say that I've never even heard of some of the high end ammo you guys talk about.:p

I haven't tried Thunderbolts, nor will I. I use a mix of Federal 525, Win 333/555, and some other kind of Winchester stuff, maybe Power Point in my 10/22, and have good luck. I do get a ftf once in a while, but that is pretty much the same as a warning shot, so I don't worry.

I shoot whatever is on sale at the Co-op, and buy cases at a time. I shoot offhand most of the time, and just pull the trigger as the crosshairs wobble past the cute little gophers.:ar15:

Threads like this are good to have, all kidding aside. You have to wonder at Remington putting out the crap ammo that they do.

Worst: Nitron extra. Made in Poland, from the 1970's. I still have some. I couldn't get my 597 to jam, so I dug out some this stuff. Jams, no problem with this stuff.

Best: CCI Stinger

Good: Imperial High Velocity. I'm getting low in supply. Last I bought was 2 boxes of 50 for $1.44.

Winchester Dynapoints, Federal bulk stuff, Winchester 333 and 555, all seems about the same to me. Okay, but not great.

I tried a box of thunderbolts. Got about half way through a box before I gave up. Junk.
3 didn't fire and half of the ones that did sounded like they had half a powder charge.

Blazer's are pretty damn good on the range punching paper @ 100 yards. For plinking I've had good success with Winchester 333.
