Any Signs?

Would anyone know if there is a practical way to inspect the barrel and determine if this type of failure is imminent? Are there any warning signs, visual or otherwise, that can inform you a barrel is going to let go?

....BTW, I believe that Sproingfield recieveres are cast in South America (?Chile?), then machined/finished in USA
