Wondering if there are others with whom I may share my misery. Every year, I put 4 or 5 animals in my freezer, some years, 8 or 9 dependig on the extra doe tags. I put the time and effort in and have always found success in the field. By this late in the season, I usually have at least 3 cut and packed. This year, I have not even been able to put a deer in the scope yet.

To start, RAMP destroyed several properties I hunted in past. Yes, RAMP may be on its way out this year, but the publicity of each property due to this program turned these places into a congested slaughterhouse. Trucks and bullets flying everywhere, and it felt like 20 guys for every animal on the property. Never thought finding a place to park during hunting would ever be an issue so I now stay the hell away from these properties.

This year, some clown that runs a hunting camp near my buddy's place, keeps sneaking his hunters into the property, despite several warnings from the owner and ongoing legal disputes.

On another friend's property I frequent, more quads. Guys without access to the land, sneak in from the Crown land with their quads. Also last week, there was a highway plowed through the bush from quads. The deer and moose disappear pretty quickly with the quads a buzzing. I alone chased 4 parties of hunters (on quads) out of my friend's place.

Who else is having a difficult year?

I have seen SFA around here. Just too warm to get their tails moving...One last crack at it tomorrow, then I am relying on my archery skills till late ML season.

oh boo hoo. I didn't get a chance to even put boots on the ground once this year.

you're out hunting, it's NEVER a bad thing, regardless of what you see. you usually put 4 - 9 animals on the ground? consider yourself blessed and STFU.

sick of this woe-is-me bull####

Have to agree, here in NS if you can score 1 deer it's a good haul. That's enough to make me happy. You didn't get 5-6 oh well, there's always next year!

Agreed.....don't know about Alberta but here in Ontario as far as I know 1 tag means 1 deer. I know there are a few areas where surplus tags are available but I don't know many people who tag 4-9 deer/ person per season!

The Alberta advantage....one of the reasons I will never return to Ontario....

;)

It's slower around where I've been hunting in Southern Manitoba. Thinking the weather is playing a part of it. There's also a lot of predators, coyotes and wolves. Never seen or heard of so many. I've had some luck, but its patience and luck. Others with more patience and less luck have been skunked.

Worst year I've seen in awhile, here in northern Onterrible. Bucks aren't moving at all, other than some young spike bucks. Lots of sign but just don't seem to be moving around in the daylight.

And yeah, I hate this province. Alberta is definitely the place to be.

this was one of our best years, but by fluke. We tagged out in 2 hours into our hunt. Even with the high coyote pressure in the area.

I do think its was pure luck for us. Grey/Bruce has been pretty scarce that past few years.
