hhey guys im lookin for a nice synthetic stock for a ruger hawkeye.. bell n carson, mcmillen etc etc im undecided for now.
we have issue importing from USA so i thought why not sus out CAN.
is the prices similar to USA on stocks in Canada?
is there a online store i can check out Stocks for Ruger hawkeyes/mkii?

hoytcanon says theres no dramas sending from Canada so i guess the Online store is the way to go esp for checkin out prices an comparing to see if its worth the freight.

im also open to someones 2nd hand Stock to fit.

any opinions on a good synthetic are welcomed.

any info in direction to look would be great too

Thanks CGNrs!

Thanks.
Ive seen on midway usa they have standard stocks, so I emailed them to see if they can ship one to me, $99 + freight.
Do you guys have similar to midway in Canada??

im hoping to do a loop hole deal which will see it sent to Aus.

Ideally, a forum member with a spare stock would be grouse!!!

We don't have it any easier than you, except maybe shipping charges. What about a Canadian manufacturer? Might want to check out wildcat composites...

I am guessing that you already checked, but theirs a couple custom stock makers in NZ, making stocks with carbon fiber. Seam to be fairly highly thought off, on the NZ hunting and fishing forum.

Firearms section, top of page, look for, "talented bastards on the forum" for more info.

cheers, sounds good although as anything custom would be worth its weight of gold...
http://www.sggunstocks.co.nz/ $600NZ (reasonable for carbon fibre +9month wait)
hawkeye standard synthetic stock is on the cards although cheers for the heads up

For what its worth Im going to look at the Ramline, a budget synthetic stock for use an abuse!
I can get one for $145 + freight, the LGS said a Ruger synthetic from ruger is around $330

So il see how it goes, I kind of want it 'tomorrow' an cant wait to try find something else.

from what I hear it will do the job

I bought a Ruger synthetic off Brownell's a few years ago for $70 or so. Might want to check that out.

Edit: I see they're $113 now, still a good price. http://ww w.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-parts/rifle-stocks/stock-assembly-long-action-all-weather-prod19621.aspx

Your decision, but Ramline is the bottom of the barrel as far as synthetic stocks are concerned.

Yeah mate I emailed Brownells an due to the USA email monitoring, he was not interested in my loop hole advice LOL so therefore wasn't interested in shipping me a Ruger Stock :p

I am getting down to the bottom of the barrel, I do intend to use an abuse so it may be a wise choice. il let yas know how I get on with my decisions, hopefully find a 2nd hand ruger one sittin around :)

Thanks

WL

BTW- advertised Aus price is $330 for ruger stock

So someone from Canada could order it and send it to you or are there Australian import restrictions?

I have 2 ramline stocks on guns right now... Rem 742 and a Browning Auto-5. noted that both of these are 2 piece stocks, still they are serviceable and do the job - ie being a handle for the gun. Certainly don't have any worries about knocks and dings... rough service for certain.

That being said I don't have any long guns with one piece stocks from RamLine to compare with.

Yeah mate im fairly sure theres no problems with that hey!
Id absolutely Froff on that offer if someone could middleman it!

Leave it with me, ill look into it in the next 24 hours and even Ring Customs, Stocks I believe is no problem from our end, unless it is Folding, adjustable or AR type....

The main issue is the USA Laws surrounding the export/import.

I'l jump back on tomorrow with hopefully a 100% answer, I'l ring Customs to make sure of it.

I really do appreciate the Offer by you guys, especially Superbrad.

Cheers, and good night

Unless ITAR also runs in Canada?

wl

ITAR is a USA government agency... they govern the export of items from the US but have nothing to do with the import of items to Canada.... there are still many products that can be shipped to Canada from the US... the problem is with the OEM's not wanting to do the paperwork and pay the fees to have their products cleared for export.

Awesome!
Looks like theres light at the end of this tunnel!

As long as Brownells will ship it to Canada then I think this is goin to work out fine!

Guys, any merit to this claim?

" my understanding is that US made firearm parts would be included in Canada's Export Control List Export Control List (SOR/89-202) 5400 (United States Origin Goods and Technology ) and require a permit to export under the Export and Import Permits Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. E-19)."

in regards to the Rifle Stock?

WL

It's really hard to believe the issues involved for a piece of wood or molded plastic.........yikes.

Hayya Laddie, git yerself a biggun tug boat and push that island oh yores way yonder this way.
Then we'd have an exkuse ta pick ya up inna boat and bring ya onshore to spend yer lewt.

I too have an after market stock on my A-5 and as chittie as it lewks, don't mind it attawl.
