Worth it to buy an AR now?

I have the urge to purchase my first AR but I am a little hesitant with the current gov't situation. I'm just nervous that I will buy one and the next day, all Ar's become Prohibited and I can never use it.

Anyone else nervous about this? Just my thoughts as I do really want one but am concerned that it would be a waste of money...
I've seen stripped lowers go for $50-100 if you just want to help support the community, but if you want to play, you can get into a cheap, functional US-made AR for as low as $600 or less (there's a DPMS in EE for $575 right now).

I just received my RPAL and I have always wanted an AR15. I do not think I will let this potential regulation change my mind nor will I be told what I can or cannot buy.

I do not want to change the topic much but what brands were you looking at? I have my eyes on something affordable to get me through the door. 1) Ruger AR556 MPR or 2) COLT EPR

I have a Ruger AR556 and S&W Sport II. The S&W is much better fit and finish. I shoot the S&W all the time now.

A lot of peoples are scare of buying an AR, i have a KAC SR15 and a KAC SR25 and no way i am gonne sell them, i really dont think the govt will come after them but anything NR Stag, 102, etc... are more in danger of being reclassified, much easier to go from NR to restricted or prohibited:mad:

I think it’s more likely you’ll see various non-restricted semiautos face reclassification before the AR-15. I’m not certain as to the statistics, but I suspect there are very few crimes in Canada involving AR-15’s. Anyone out there remember any specific dialogue with respect to the AR-15 and it’s classification back when C-68 was drafted? I could be wrong but I recal there was specific mention of its use in competition here in Canada that kept it from being scheduled prohibited back then...

I was actually looking at just going all out and buying a Daniel Defence M4 V7

Thats probably what I`d buy (I already have an AR but I reckon you need to own one to figure out what's important and what you really want) but it would have to be the "Pro" version with the Geissele 3 Gun trigger - sweet looking gun

I had narrowed it down to the DD M7 Pro or Armalite M15 competition version. Only other thing I would consider is a build from scratch (which means it could be NR if using a Mac Def SLR upper/lower) but with the spec I want that could get REAL pricey......

Daniel Defense makes an excellent AR15, I had two and my friend still has one. Only reason I got rid of them was to build my own. And if the feds ever try to take the AR15 you kindly disassemble and hand them the stripped lower receiver.

screw it, buy an ar-15 and enjoy it. Even a norinco is fun and cheap, and a small investment for 699.00, and will piss-off the Libs. But yeah, buy it, and enjoy it. hell with it, buy two for that matter. if your serious buy a quaility one. my neighbor bought a ruger ar-15 he's really happy with it.

Better to take your money to your grave?

Buy one, they have come down atleast 40% in price since I started and can be had for under $6-700 now

If unsure about future prohibition worries, just buy a lower reciever for a 100$. If everyone gets the knock to turn them over one day in the future, its only a 100$ loss. If they get grandfathered to the owners in the future we still might be able to use them at the range and the lower just might turn itself into a gun for use.

In the meantime now is the time to buy them. The AR glut is slowly drying up and prices are only going up. The S&W Sporter will make an excellent entry AR15 for a what he said newbie who doesn't want to spend the big coin.

what he said .......come join the AR family :ar15:
