it's been about 15+ years since I build up a 10/22 platform with Dlask & Kidd parts, end results always was very good to great shooter but a bolt action like a CZ 452/455 always did better as a tack driver.

I'm kinda tossing this idea around of trying another 10/22 build again in 2026 and just wondering if KIDD Innovative Design parts or Tandemkross would be a better option I'm thinking Tandemkross is more known for parts for 10/22 speed gun builds.

Any thoughts on a 11/22 receivers from Fletcher Open top 11/22 receiver id it worth the cost for the ease of takedown.

I do understand I would be better off putting the money into a bolt action in the long run

As for my interests these days as I'm getting older, I'm more of a KYL type shooting also tossing in shooting matchsticks / toothpicks & playing cards at 50yds & some benchrest style paper shooting & a little bit of NRL22 production interests.

Anyways anyone running a 10/22 or even wasting their time building up a 10/22 these days?

Any Canadian makers of good 10/22 barrels or worth looking at?

Just built one - enjoyed sourcing it all and putting together.

- kid bolt and barrel
- SBI receiver
- Midwest Industries chassis - needed modification to work with SBI receiver
- BX trigger - had a Volquartsen lined up but wouldn't fit the chassis
- Tandemkross Fireswitch mag release

Volquartsen wouldn't fit the SBI chassis? why was that?

have you tested groups yet with this build?

Spectre makes some nice chassis designs as well as receivers and barrels. Dlask is down to last-call for whatever they have left before they retire, so last chance to own some very good equipment. Kidd trigger groups etc are top notch. And IBI is another source of great Canadian barrels. Don't forget MDT for grips/stocks/chassis.

I'm very aware of Dlask, Power Custom, Kidd, Volquartsen & MDT parts, I not up to date on all the other brands out there for the 10/22 as I took a long break from the sport due to work & life.

I been watching a few videos over the years with Tandemkross making a name for them selves. but not others like SBI, KRG, Victor, or any others I might not know about, TacSol not a fan of their barrels.

It sounds like you're more of a bolt action/precision kinda guy. Why do you want to spend that much on a 10/22?

Only asking because it can get expensive! I just built 2 with premium components and it cost me over $5k.

If you don't like plinking or shooting steel for fun... then the money is better spent on a bolt gun IMO.

Had a Fletcher TD 11/22 didn't see any advantage to the open top. Did not care for the way you would mount a Scope on the receiver. Wasn't any issue with the TD , would be an issue with a non TD 11/22 receiver.

Dlask has a sale on their receiver and the mdt chassis.

SBI , VQ, and especially Kidd are all good.

Check out Ruger 2026 1022 lineup many new models with standard BX Trigger, many old models gone.

I here you, I have built a few over the years and it's very hard to recover that cost if you later decide to move on.

I have a 10/22 in the safe still owned it from my days of working at Cabela's the old management was pissed when I bought it as they had priced it wrong. I informed them that the price was wrong and asked 3 managers to confirm the price all told me I was wrong & go back to work, So I jumped on it and bought it. Later the store manager asked for it back saying the buyer entered the wrong price in the system. LOL I told them to pound sand, My personal win from that place hahahaha! I will never sell that gun for that very reason.

like all 10/22's I have owned in the past first things I always replace out of the gate are, Kidd firing pin, Kidd hammer & sear, Kidd extractor, auto bolt release, extended mag release, buffer tube. these are my must have changes on any 10/22 that improves that gun 10 fold.

The kidd bolt's, and extended charging handle with spring kits are also nice too. but mine doesn't have that upgrade.

So I'm just tossing this project around wondering if it's worth the upgrades in 2026 as for about the cost of this upgrades on the 10/22 you might be right as I could just get a good cz457 MTR or LRP with MDT right out of the gate, or even a Tikka rifle. for the cost of this upgrades. Now you got me thinking about just getting the bolt gun......

Just thinking that if you're shooting toothpicks and playing cards... a 10/22 won't be quite as accurate or enjoyable.

If you're not into light rifle/fast shooting type of stuff I wouldn't spend that much on one.

Personally, I like shooting steel with 22LR so I built a superlight 10/22. Cost me a small fortune but every time I pick it up it brings a smile to my face!

I dunno brother.... Maybe buy both 😁

sure that's a ###y rig, and I have watched some footage of steel challenge just don't know if it's a thing in my area or not.

I have also seen guys using the 10/22 with tooth pics & cards but then again it's the right ammo, skills and a good fortune put into the building of the gun I know it can be done but at a big cost.
