I would pay more to buy Canadian, just not alot more...
Would you be successful? well maybe. Would you be successful if 10/22 parts and Accessories were a smal part of a larger operation that sold other gun accessories? definitely.

Just make sure you do your homework, find the best deals out there, just because you can get X part for $24 from distributor #1 does not mean you can't get it for $20 from Distriboutor # 2 and since you will be a CDN distributor, it is entirely possible that you can get it for $12 direct from the manufacturer. There is a local gun shop here that buys from a distrubutor and quite often HIS COST is more for a gun than some retailers are selling at the store.

10/22 stuff

I just brought in a sear/spring kit from Brownells and it was half what Russells had it listed for and they didnt have at the time. Also bought direct from Buffer Technologies. No problem getting the stuff in. Check out Brownells site.

Thanks for the reply. Upon doing some research it appears that it would be really tough to beat the U.S competition. It was just a thought that crossed my mind and I thought I would weigh in here.

Thanks again for all the responses, good or bad. Merry Christmas to all and have a safe new year.

10/22 stuff

You get points for at least giving it some thought regardless of the shots taken at you. Keep in mind that some companies start from just such a beginning- hobbies gone wild. Merry Christmas, Happy Honukah,Felize Navidad, and all that.HO HO HO!

I voted yes... with one caveat.

If you do this. Dont just be a supply house for little parts. Get the big stuff a person cant order across the border themselves. Get the high end stocks, barrels, conversion kits and receivers etc.

You can only make so much money on a $5 part, especially with tough competition from some of the sites I have been ordering from in the states. Where you will succeed or fail will be in how you handle the big stuff.

All that said, please do get a sea can full of the little stuff too though. Thats what will be your big draw for the masses right?

That is exactly right. The bigger items would be the bread and butter of the business.

Thanks for your thoughts. Much Appreciated.

Hey Bulls-eye I said yes but with mixed feelings on it, would like to see more kits for the 10/22s in canada like the rhinland arms furniture and such to play with but yes anything sold in canada is better than ordering from the states

Thanks B.C. If I were to go ahead I would definatley carry a wide array of items such as what you have listed. Thanks for your input.

alot of folks are into smallbore but just dont talk much about it, we just came back from the range and there were 4 guys there playing with new .22s they all got for christmas (no cool ones like my r22 haha)
on the other side I have a dozen buddies with 10/22s looking to mod or keep moding them up and parts are a pain for us to find here in northern BC and I have a couple 10/22s on the way and looking for 2-3 more as we now have a monthly smallbore shoot here at the club for all 22s no matter whats done to them theres a class for them.
anyhow good luck and keep us informed I would shop at your store and can say quite a few others would as well ;)

You need help running it, I live in Redcliff and would be more than happy.

Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that one day. Right now this is a little piece of my marketing research and will have to conduct more research in the future.

Thanks again.

I do the ordring for CRAFM, and we stock pretty much all of the mainstream Volquartsen and PC parts anyone could want for their 10/22. We also bring in Green Mountain barrels and Revival stocks.

Suffice it to say that Rimfire Sports and Hawktech sell fairly close to dealer cost prices. They obviously get additional distributor rebates due to the volume they sell, which is out of reach to the average dealer.

I will admit 100% that my prices at CRAFM are slightly above the US prices with a small markup for profit. We have bills and employees to pay, but so far customers have been more than willing to pay the little extra to get their parts immediately. It would be next to imposible to compete with the two web busineses mentioned above... as most mail-order consumers would rather save $10 than buy from a Canadian option.

I would like to have a canadian online alternative.... my main reason in the past for going to rimfiresports or hawktech has been the ease of ordering, I can do it at midnight with zero problems and not have to pick up a phone.

a pet peeve of mine is phoning gun shops for orders, somehow thru the grace of god you always end up talking to the one guy in the store that knows nothing about the product you want.... for me ONLINE ordering would be a big plus, and frankly I don't mind paying extra to buy in canada, at least I know I will have my parts in under a week via expresspost..

now your main hurdle is going to be getting the parts people like and keeping them stocked....

10/22 parts

Also note there is some Volquartzen stuff at Russells and P&D Enterprises. With P&D there is no online catalog so you need to go to Volq site to get the numbers and ask for them.
