Would a muzzle break fix this?

My dad and I always spot each other at the range, but I don't like sitting next to him when he fires his Mini 14...The blast off it is crazy!
I was hoping that some sort of muzzle device could dampen this......

Would a muzzle break do this? If so, do i need to find a "muzzle break" or will a compensator do the same?

A muzzle brake will probably make the muzzle blast more pronounced.
Put a hardcase or something between you and the muzzle.

A muzzle brake would make standing beside the shooter even more unbearable....maybe noise cancelling ear protection would work better for you

Generally, muzzle brakes reduce felt recoil by diverting gasses back and to the side, making blast worse from a bystanders point of view.

A directional comp like a Levang, Dlask XB5, Troy Claymore, etc will redirect some of the blast downrange. Of course you'll need a 1/2x28 adaptor or have the muzzle threaded.

That is correct. those brakes make it much easier on the guys next to you at the range.
