It would next to impossible to enforce, given the sheer number of parts that are already in circulation.

In EU, main firearm parts - barrels, bolts, receivers - are serialized and considered controlled goods. But this doesn't seem to be a major obstacle for criminals - they turn to other means that are just as effective

Really? The f'n turd plans to announce a total ban in June at the women deliver conference.

Practical or enforceable is irrelevant, if he does it will be law and they'll all be illegal to own. That will close all gun ranges and shut down all hunting licenses. There will be nowhere you can legally shoot them and if caught you will go to jail.

This is what happens when a narcissistic idiot is elected into the PM's office.

It will be done by Cabinet Directive with no discussion, no debate in the house.

He plans to decree the ban at the “Woman Deliver Conference” in Vancouver BC (June 1 -3 2019).

New Zealand PM Ardern will be in attendance to offer Trudeau cover.

When the Liberal Minister responsible was asked about the plan to ban all legal firearms, he did not deny it.

As each day produces a new scandal, one more petal falls from the wilted rose of the Liberal leader.

Unpopular among more of his own party members, one Liberal MP after another announces intentions not to run for Parliament again.

Their party is desperately trying to change the channel as Canadians get closer and closer to a fall election.

The Liberals think they can manipulate the emotions of women by using sportsmen and farmers as scapegoats.

The conference is a convenient platform to attack law-abiding firearms owners, and try to make female voters, outraged over the “Kokanee Grope”, forget about it.

The conference is less than 25 days away.

That is all the time we have to fight Trudeau and the Liberal Party.

This fight is real.

We need to stop this plan now before it gets swept up in this fall’s election.

Same with building or acquiring a complete upper assembly. But and a big one, only if they are mated together does it become capable of discharging ammunition and thus need re-classifying. For now every other single part can be purchased by anyone but without a lower, they are just bits of metal. Which makes me want to get a suitable size piece of aluminum and draw an outline of a lower receiver on it. Call it a 1% lower or something.

Why wouldn't you just buy a non restricted used rifle and bury it then? If AR's are banned you'll never be able to legally fire an AR again regardless of if you have or can buy the rest of the parts

Buried guns can be found, guns that don't physically exist but could if wanted should make them nervous. Moot anyway since if my rights under the Charter get violated I'll be looking for my $10.6 million. Multiply that by a few hundreds of thousands while removing a significant portion of the most productive segment of society from participating and things won't go well. Criminalize that segment for no other reason than to curry favour with a different segment and the new criminals may realize that they are no longer bound by any laws. 2 million plus new criminals for law enforcement to deal with, not enough cops? Use military troops to police your own population? Fire on your friends, neighbours and relatives because Trudeau told you to while Wendy creams herself in the corner? I don't think so.
 
With all the advertising for ar sales, one has to ask why it is believed that previous and new ar purchases will be grandfathered and not confiscated. Obviously no one knows that answer. But the toss up is why buy a new Ar, let alone a cheap one. I can see gambling to secure a nicer unit as it May become a grandfathered keeper for life. But that’s a $3k gamble.

I have a nice piston Ar but wish I could purchase a higher quality DI version set up for 3 gun. That’s a lot of thousands gone by the stoke of a pen.

Let’s hope we get grandfathered and can still buy uppers in the future.

Grandfathering is pointless, it's a scam to get out of paying you for them, ask the guys who own prohibs and only get to look at them.
You suddenly have a nice rifle worth almost nothing that you can never legally shoot.
Why would you want to be grandfathered?
 
What are the possibilities?
Grandfathering? With transport privileges for target shooting like 12-6 or frozen like everything else?
Confiscation with compensation?
Confiscation without compensation?

It is all speculation and rumour mongering right now.
