... if I showed up with a Benelli R1?

Aside from the looks, which I actually like, is it a good shooter (1 -1.5 MOA) out to say 500m? I've always been partial to autoloading rifles, it's a disease I think. I'm not contemplating any "serious" long-range shooting at the moment just something to have a little fun with at the local range.

I'm shooting a 270WSM hunting rifle, a Winchester Model 70 Coyote Lite with a 22" barrel, topped with a Leupold 8.5-25X50Mk4 LRT.....all the way back to 1000M with good results (after load developement, bedding and barrel lapping!) And....

...I've shot coyote, porcupine and groundhog with the same rifle!!!

Just get good at knowing what you're doing. Let 'em laugh then!!!!

Go and have some fun and if anyone says anything they are an idiot! Its about getting and out doing what you like to do and everyone on this board will agree with me that experience is a huge factor in becoming an accurate shooter, regardless of what calibre or type of rifle you shoot.

When I go to the range I often bring with a cheap beat up 22 cal revolver that I just love plinking with.... and I also bring with some great pistols as well. Nobody thinks anything the lesser of you for whatever you are shooting with. It is how you conduct yourself at the range that is of greater importance. Conduct yourself well and you will be highly thought of. That's the bottom line. NOT what you are shooting.

Some people get a real laugh when I pull some of my rifles out of the case, till they see them shoot.
Something about a guy hitting X's at distance with a beat up rifle with sling 'n' irons that makes others watch when thhey can't hit them withh their super duper whiz-bangs!
A target shooter would understand as saw that the irons are match sights, but most casual shooters do not understand the potential.

The next best thing is letting them try the irons out.
Lots of fun to watch the look on their faces when they hit the targeet at 500 meters.
REALLY makes 'em take notice then!
Run what ya brung and have fun with it!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, perhaps I should have elaborated more... Personally I don't really care what people might think of me or my possessions one way or another (I tend to remember the compliments and ignore the insults)... What I meant was is an autoloading rifle (the Benelli Argo) second best to say a heavy barreled bolt action rifle, given shooters of equal abilities. And yes I know dollar for dollar the Benelli probably isn't the best choice but as I said before I just love autoloaders...

Thanks again

says the movie star.............

Movie star? haha.Not me.

If your asking will one gun outshoot another?Yes of course. But given the same rifle, the shooter with more practise will outshoot the other guy. Will your Benelli outshoot a 700 or something along those lines? Most likely not.
