would like feedback from ruger 77 owners

i like my 375 ruger in stainless.

due to a very good member i ll get soon a 270 win in lh and ill input a mannlicher stock so yes they re very good rifles.

did i say i love the ruger rifles and especially the lefties line ...

I am very happy with my Hawkeye 358Win walnut version.
Covers all the bases for me ,deer ,bear ,moose here in NW BC.
It is my one gun does all rig, with leupold 2x7.

I have owned 4 ruger 77s over the years, great rifles that served me very well. I wish I still have all four of them, but I am a gun nut so they were traded off for new toys! Wish I could find one of the new Hawkeyes in 358 win, that would be one sweet rifle!

Really like my 30 06 (pre hawkeye) M77

Am planning on getting a timney trigger put in but otherwise its been a jewel.
Would never trade it or sell it!
Moa or just slightly above with factory ammo but a bit heavy

I am a little biased, as I have used them pretty much exclusively for hunting over the past 15 years. I currently own five of the rifles. I have never had a mechanical issue with any of them, and found that the accuracy question that has followed them over the years is largely myth - with the exception of the mini-14 which shoots “minute of pie plate”.

When matched up with good glass and suitable hand loads mine will regularly shoot .625” to 1.0” three shot groups @ 100 yards - if I do my part correctly. For “care and feeding” mine prefer Leupold VX II’s for glass, Nosler for bullets, and Hornady for brass.

I have a stainless, camo stocked hawkeye in .270. It's a great carrying gun, functions flawlessly. Accuracy at 100 yds is greater than MOA on mine but not too bad.

You have to be mindfull of the 3 position safety and not just flick it off while readying to shoot an animal. Mine got away from my finger and made a little click that cost me a coyote at 180 yds.

My mistake, all safeties can make noise but the Ruger, being spring loaded, can make quite a bit if you are not carefull.

My favourite has been an M77 I picke up years ago. It's a heavy barrel .308 in the walnut stock, adjustable trigger, and 2 position safety. With my 165 gr. handloads, I've put 4 shots into a dime sized hole (one big ragged hole) at 100 m. I've nailed most of my deer with it. It's a heavy sucker, but since I'm only carrying to my stand and back, it's not a problem. I wouldn't want to lug it around on a push. Like some other posters, I have several good friends who've made it quite clear that should I ever decide to part with it ( I won't), they want first dibs. Not gonna happen! I'll hang on to it as long as I can hunt.

I have heard that rugers kick pretty good. Any truth to that? I'm looking at a M77 in a 7mm.

My M77 in 7mm Rem Mag kicks pretty good but it has been swapped into a super-light synthetic stock which drastically dropped it's weight. Felt recoil is more than with the heavier wood stock. Still manageable, just more of a slap than a .308 or 30-06.

The older Paddlestock Rugers are known to boot...Thats for sure.

but as others have said, the lighter the rifle, in any big game cal will start to boot pretty damn hard.
