Would this break the first time I use it?

Would this actually work on my cz858 without breaking the first 100 rounds? If not, what would be a cost effective alternative? Thanks

I had that model on my cz 858, I really like the different reticles. It would turn off sometimes after a single shot and the rubber between the base and body was pushed out and affecting the accuracy.

I ended up buying an Aimpoint compm4 to replace it after 600 rounds. I am not saying to go and spend lots, just you get what you pay for.

I cannot recommend an alternative optic because I haven't used too many but I am sure you won't be happy with the nc star 4 retical one.

buy one of these red dots... will not regret :D

Yes, the $60 one.

NCStar optics are like Norinco guns. They're made all over China and marketed by one company. Some are s**t, some are okay. YMMV.

If you're going to replace it later on, don't waste the $60. Put it in your cookie jar and save up for a used Aimpoint. If you're on the ball you should be able to get a used Comp M2/ML2 in the $400 range.

Edit: I see The Shooting Edge has the Aimpoint Comp C3 for $444 and the Comp ML2 for $470. You can't go wrong with either at that price.

He's going to spend an arm and a leg on a new sight. :p Stevo has good advice. If you spend the money now, the aimpoints will last for a very long time. I wish I would have just bought my aimpoint instead of NC Star and saved the $100+.

One guy does 3k in 4days one guy breaks after one shot. That helps lmao:confused:

I never broke it after a single shot.. after ~500 rounds it starts turning off after each shot so I replaced it. Sorry if my original post was confusing/poorly worded.

I don't know if I ever want to spend $500 (almost same money as the rifle) on a red dot. I was thinking about one of those russian military ones for $199...

Then you will get what you pay for. Quality costs money.

I've had good luck with "intermediately" priced optics like the Burris FastFire and Bushnell TRS-25. Priced around the $200 mark, but still made in China.

If you buy a quality optic, you only have to pay once and you'll have it for years to come. I bought my Aimpoint Comp M2 over 5 years ago, it's been on 3 or 4 different rifles, and it has never let me down.

I had the exact same model, did not work out well for me on my SKS. It was mounted on a scoutscopes mount. The glass rectical fell out. Sent it back for warranty, they sent me a Brand new one. Sold it.

I kinda went your route this week as well. I went to CT and picked up that $50 red dot by tasco... very nice looking optic for the money but she would not fit on my NEA upper mount.

The tasco says it fits weaver bases, i can only assume my NEA mount is a picantiny style base, am i right ?
