These are some groups i had trying the Federal Premium with 160 grain Nosler Partitions. I really want to use this bullet, but i dont know, i think its the shooter, not the gun..........

...... the top cirlced group is at 100 yards, 2 shot group, the attached circled group lower, is a two shot group from 200 yards. it was pretty windy today, and i was starting to get cold. so the bad grouping must have been me. The wild shot way off on the right was me standing with a shot from using Mono-pod shooting stick. not good either

.........wind decided to take a new direction, i was not pleased, this is a 2 shot group, and a 3 shot group. both are circled.

Now....should i be happy with thse groupings? i rarely shoot game past 150 yards, most under 100. I am not a master shooter, but the average weekend hunter. More practice probably would have helped with the new gun, but ill keep shots under 200 this year, practice for next year.

Critics? anyone?

1st pic.Your 100yards group is approx 1-1/2", your 200yard group is approx 3".

2nd pic, 3 shoot group is about 1-1/2" 2 shot group, although smaller, really means nothing, 2 shot groups mean nothing really.

I would say with that load, you gun is going to shoot about 1-1/2" at 100yrds. Accurate enough for hunting.

Wait for a quiet day and shoot a 3 or better yet, 5 shot group. I'll bet it's still around 1-1/2".

Your 7mag shoots almost exactly like the 700LH BDL 7mag I just picked up for my lefty son. This was with a load that I threw together from extra bullets and powder I have around here for my 280AI...we're going after elk this coming weekend.
Your rifle is plenty accurate for hunting out to 200 yards,..holding it right will be the key, as always.

It'll work, the groups will probably get better on a calmer day( already stated by joe-nwt) plus the barrel might need a break in period. Did you clean the barrel before you shot it out of the box? You should do this because you don't want to bake any factory crap into you barrel. You can also pretty much guarantee the first and maybe the second shot out of a clean barrel is going to be off a bit.
And depending on the finish on the inside of the barrel and the amount of powder burned you might have to clean you rifle after a certain amount of rounds. My 300 ultra mag starts spreading after 8 or 9 rounds.

Either way it will down game :)

For a SPS, that's pretty good.. I'd be pretty happy if mine had shot that well. My SPS was lucky to get 5" groups at 200M. As many people pointed out to me, a bedding job definately couldn't hurt.

7mm shooter try 175gr rem bulk bullets 76gr h870 oal 3.285 found this by accident try it i think you may find this pretty accurate

i suspect if you are complaining about those groups you are hunting something small. do you need a draw for field mouse or is it a general tag. nice groups and remember that your shooting table normally doesn't follow you into the field so being able to squeeze a half inch group from a table is less important that being able to hit consistantly offhand, in bad weather, bad light, adverse terrain, and whilst freezing your parts off.

I have a Remington SPS and was shooting similar groups shooting 130 Hornaday interbonds behind H-4831. I switched to 130gr Nosler CT Ballistic Silvertips behind H-4831 SC and my groups went down to 1/2 inch at 100 yards off the bench. I shot all my CT Ballistic silvertips at the range, could not find more at the local shop so I bought some Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting rounds (thinking they would shoot as well) and shot terrible 3 inch groups. I will only be shooting the CT Silver Tips from now on.
I have never owned such a finicky rifle but when you get the right load its quite capable of moa accuracy and your only spending $500

Cheers!!

is it about raining lead downrange untill the game runs into it or taking pride in a one shot kill anyone who has wounded a animal and tracked it for kms and lost it wishes he or she had to do it over again
