Would you buy a shotgun from someone who spells gauge guage?

The word "shotty" was in use as far back as the 1800's, usually to describe a nice hunting firearm and/or it's ammunition. I've heard older English gentlemen say "That's a very nice shotty" or similar.

It is slang, but it is very old slang.

As far as spell check goes if that is any indication of how AI works I don't want it driving my vehicle. Dad was in advertising for many years and he always said the best ads have the best sales.

maybe its a typo?

... typo?

As an example, there is one poster who, in less than the last month, posted the following items on the EE:

Winchester model 2200 pump 12 guage
SAVAGE 210 Rifled slug barrel 12 guage 3 inch
BRNO ZH305 COMBO GUN .22 Savage 12 guage
BENELLI SUPER NOVA CAMO 3 1/2 inch 12 guage, NEW IN BOX

When I see stuff like that, I find it hard to "guage" whether it is just a typo or not.

Some of the guys from Quebec their English isn't so good and that makes for bad spelling. Nothing to sweat about. My own spelling isn't that great, but I'm only moderately sketchy.

Absolutely, the seller might not be able to count properly either and that could work in my favour!
Honestly though I don't really wurry too much about spelling mistakes these days on CGN or anywhere else for that matter.

Then you definitely want to do business with W*lverine S*pplies. I have never seen them spell gauge right in all of their CGN posts - and their website has gauge mis-spelled 23 times.

As you say, maybe they can count either. You might order one gun and they ship you two ...

Honestly, I just look at their feedback/photos/description and make a decision based on that. Their spelling/grammar skills are not on the table.

Between spell checkers that don't kick in, auto correct that messes with some words and the wide variety of education out it's not a big deal.

Once upon a time, I found a pretty rare savage 24v hornet/20 gauge with a horribly misspelled ad that took a lot of interpretation to figure out what he was selling. The price was very attractive. But I just wasn't going to use it. So, it was sold closer to the market value.
The owner was an old trapper, clearing out his equipment.

But, I don't like the term shotty in particular. It just gets on my nerves.

Best laugh I've had all week!

I would far sooner buy from a person that could not spell vs. an arrogant person who thinks they are God's gift to the earth just because they know how to spell.

The Snake oil salesman 4 or 5 paragraphs about why his is better than the one made 2 yrs earlier or 2 yrs later and how much they sell for in the USA and on and on and on . Really make model condition and specs.
