Would you consider bringing in Norinco 97 bullpups? (Part Deux)

At a $800ish ticket price, would you buy a 97A bullpup?

It's an Airsoft 97B rail I think...

Do you all notice the trigger almost seems double action?

Real sword it the only one I know of that makes one - I ordered one from an airsoft dealer in the states. They are CNC Machined aluminum so it should work ok on a light recoiling rifle.

The trigger isn't double action - on mine it is mushy with a long take up but it is pretty light.

So after all these posts, do we have a positive feed back from Marstar? Do we have anything at all?

Prior to ordering, I need confirmation that "the" or any provider can also have current pieces for regular maintenance such as bolt, extractor,etc...
This is worthless is you have a broken toy that cannot be fixed. I do not have any Norc in my safe but what about the pistol line...when broken, were you able to have parts easily and fast?

Honestly, I don't think the type 97series will break like their pistols. Remember, those pistols are make for export to generate cash off the cheap segment in the foreign firearms market. The 97series is made for sale to the 3rd world military who needs a cheap alternative.

On the other hand, remember the factory declared the life of these weapons to be 10,000 rounds. That's why they are cheap- when they are done you toss it.

10,000 rounds?? Do you have a link to this information? I've never seen that stat and I've searched every web site I could find.

A Chinese guy mentioned that to me too, however, that's for 5.8mm 95 rifle, not sure about 5.56mm 97 rifle.

AK can shoot 15,000 however M43 is a low pressure cartridge. SCAR's barrel can shoot 15,000 rounds. I guess the question is how they make 97 barrel. Cold-hammered barrel has longer life.

In real battlefield the barrel life would be much shorter if you shoot auto-mode. Remember the Ak on fire video?

An interesting note to that is my Norinco manual that came with my Type 56S says it has a service life of 6000 rounds. I'm wondering if maybe Norinco is playing it safe with their estimates.

Barrel life and Receiver life are 2 different things.

If I read Greentips post correctly he meant receiver life. So the comparasion to barrel life is not valid. ;)

Still I guess thats a decent life expectancy for the type of firearm its meant to be. IE similar to a AK, a mass produced weapon to arm millions quickly, and by the time the barrel is shot out enough to notice by semi-trained recruits the gun is going to get thrown in the scrap heap anyways.

But on a side note, compared to the likes of a M14 rifle, its life is tiny, as the M14 has a service life of 400,000 rounds. :)

Early sketches. You will not a different look, a 9mm version and something that might be a 7.62x54R version. Note a big scope can mount.

Should be from some kind of fans instead of professional arm designers.

1. Silencer on short 5.56 instead of 9mm - doesn't make lots of sense.

2. Scope on handle of the 54R(?) sniper - no way.

This has been mentioned countless times on M14 forms:

The U. S. Marine Corps found through competition shooting that the H&R, Springfield Armory and Winchester receivers would last 400,000 rounds and the TRW receivers were good for 450,000 rounds.

As for the barrels:
Typically, match grade M14 type rifle barrels begin to lose competition level accuracy after 5000 to 9000 rounds depending on use and cleaning. USGI M14 barrels were designed for a minimum service life of 15,000 rounds

This matches up to everything I've heard before about the M14 Rifles so I'm inclined to believe these numbers.

good bad or evil

I have lurked my way through this post and know there are no guarantees with our government, but have been stung in the butt already. I watched my non restricted turn into a prohib over night, whats to say it cannot happen again, at which point your very expensive Norinco turns into a bloody paper weight also wondering how did it even make it into country same with the tavor. I am intersted in picking one up but with the price and the fact it could become a safe queen I do not know. Just two bits

cheers

JHC,

We are stronger in numbers now that we are more or less organized into a larger group then pre-internet days.

But the fact of the matter remains I own a 3 firearms ... a M1A, a FN49, and a Semi-automatic Cooey 22LR, if this one becomes prohibited so do the rest of my guns. So not too worried about that. Will rather support CSSA and try to stop new gun laws then worry about all my guns becoming paperweights.

Cheer up, my friend.

We all going to die, right? Can the prohib thing worse than that?

So buy the rifle and have fun!
