Would you consider importing the Norinco JS 9mm SMG (Type 97 style SMG)?

Would you buy one of these if the price was reasonable?

With the success of the Norinco Type 97 rifles, I was wondering if there was anyone else interested in the 9mm SMG version with flat top? More importantly I was wondering if anyone was planning on bringing them in?

Apparently the police version with the flat top (perfect for an Eotech or Aimpoint) is the exportable model.

9mm. Perfect for indoors, or the pistol range.
Also it looks like the ergonomics are improved over the regular Type 97 rifles.

What do you guys think of this?

Don't think 10 round mag will happen.

Hmm ya. The uzi is classified as a carbine.

However under the prohibited list "The firearm of the design commonly known as the UZI pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, including the Micro-UZI pistol."

So there is a pistol version. Which as we all know, means pistol mags. The problem of course is the distinction, unless all Uzi mags are considered pistol mags?

Another picture: I'm not really a big fan of Chinese Optics. I would love to see what an Eotech looks like on one of these.

See how lucky you are. it takes you only one post to find it out. Poor Deckard, went through 30 pages before somebody let him know.

Hmmm, we'll see. He might just be getting craftier. Throw out a "I heard they were going to be imported in 2009 but what do I know?". All of a sudden the posts go away!!! Very sneaky.

Here's hoping it happens. I've noticed some interesting stuff. Depending on the picture the charging handle looks like it could be put on the left or right, also I've seen pictures without the selector on the right? I'm wondering if they went for ambi design on this one.

Deckard, I don't know if the actual ejector port is closer on this one than the Type 97 that was demonstrated left handed. It might not be. Something to look into.

Well, IF it uses pistol mags that we can get at a reasonable price and the gun is a reasonable price then maybe.

I don't see why a Chinese made pistol calibre gun couldn't be a lot cheaper than an Italian made Beretta Storm.

Any idea how long that barrel is with the suppressor? Might be OK with a fake suppressor or a short barrel (preferably with threads for a fake suppressor of cool looking flash hider). I wonder how much longer it would be with a non-restricted barrel?

Interesting that it has a grip safety...

Are they here yet:)

Hahhahah. :D

That's good news about the MP5 mags Scarecrow. I wasn't sure if there would be 10 round mags for this one.

I'd want to have a very short barrel with a muzzle flash. I think this this wold look good and give us somthing really quick and handy. A poor man's FN PS-90 type of weapon. It would be a range toy.
The type 97 and 88 snipers can play out in the fields.

From the reading I've been doing, it's made for armor piercing ammo, that has more bang than the regular 9mm. So at least it's overbuild for regular 9mm ammo.
