I'd rent my girlfriend out before any of my hunting dogs....good hounds aren't as easy to replace!
Lol.... so true..... usually more loyal too....
Not going to stoop to a war of words or name calling, it's just not worth my time.... (would rather spend it with my dog)
Taking a well trained dog or dogs afield is a rewarding experience made all the more rewarding when there is a kinship and bond between you...... If you have never experienced the excitement of a retriever as they begin a retrieve, launching themselves out of your boat or blind like the space shuttle, followed by the look of pride when they bring you back your prize or likewise on a successful point and retrieve with that same look of pride..... either followed by a hearty pat and scratch on the forehead and a treat. Or the experience of being swarmed by a pair of excited beagles around a deer they ran out to a watch gets taken (akin to a group hug... lol), then you are missing out......
One thing most seem to agree on is that no dog owner who views their dog as a friend and member of the family or houndsman that invests thousands in training and tracking devices is going to readily "rent out" their dog....... and if you were to find a rent-a-dog outfit, you would likely get the same quality of dog as the ones that get lost and wander all over my camp......
