Im thinking about putting a scope on my Henry 22 cal lever action but Im unsure if it would be a waste on such small caliber target rifle. Whats the norm?

Just personal preference really! The choice to scope a rifle or not could depend on the owner's eyesight, their shooting style, if they are going to hunt and maybe just simple aesthetics

I had a BL22 recently that wore a 2-7×32 Bushnell Elite. It looked a bit funny as lever guns in general look funny scoped.
But I need a scope these days for anything beyond 10 yds. Small trade off for needed small game accuracy. I wouldnt bother for plinking as half the fun of levers is just good ol' shootin at whatever. I wounded 2 rabbits before I admitted they deserved a better shooter that could see.

What's not to like?
The wee little ker-pow has found a new home.
Scope sits on my dresser.
It sure was a nice package.
Dang Henry's are nicer to shoot than the Brownings.
Waaaaaay nicer trigger too.

I don't shoot a .22 LR lever but I do shoot a .22 LR bolt and it's scoped. I shoot silhouette out to 88 yards and the scope is nice not only for seeing and hitting your target but seeing your misses (not Missus that would be bad!). I have an inexpensive Nikon 1 - 4 power and it is plenty out to 100 yards. Other guys have 5 - 26s on their silhouette rifles! A scoped lever is a unique looking rig!

I prefer the classic look of a lever gun without a scope but as my eyes got old I couldn't hit the target.

Me? NO!!!!

No scope on a lever gun ever.

You have to ask yourself the question what you use the gun for?

Hunting small stuff at 50-100m? You got the wrong gun but if you must use it then scope it (yuck)

Plinking? Hell no
