Knowing the twist of the barrel would help.

55gr bullets won't stabilize in a 1:7 twist.

RePete.

You're kidding right?

Here are a few I like (or should I say my rifle likes)

Colt 20" 1:7 twist Hbar.

68gr Hornady HPBT, Winchester Cases, Federal 205m primers, 25gr. Varget. Average velocity of 2925fps

62gr FMJBT, Win. Cases, Fed. 205m Primers, 26gr. BLC-2. Average Vel. 3000fps

I've worked up some handloads for 50 and 55gr. bullets, but for the price of 55gr. fmj winchester white box, I don't see the point in continuing with that.

I have to disagree with you as well RePete. My Colt AR15 with 1:7 barrel shoots all bullets from 55gr to 75gr just fine. As a matter of fact, 55gr Honady V-Max bullets pushed by 25gr of H335 often give me 1" groups at 100y or less

However, 1:12 twist barrels often don't stabilize the heavyer bullets, say 68gr and up ;) A 55gr bullet shot from 1:7 twist barrel is over-stabilized, not under-stabilized.
