I would like to get a set of nice grips (Alumagrips) for my 1911 and actually would like to get a custom image ingraved on them :) unfortunatelly that would cost me ~$100 total. :( Is that too much to pay grips? Generaly I just stick with what came on the gun, but I with a 1911 I find it VERY difficult to do...

what's the most you guys paid for gun grips?

The thing with metal grips is that in the winter and you're travelling with the gun in the trunk, guess what is really frosty when you go to shoot it.

Same in the summer but reversed.

Nah, wood or rubber for me. I don't care how nice they look ( they do look nice).

I bought a set of Mil-tac grips from miltac.com, and they are AWESOME. Much better than alumagrips (made from G10), and they have a ton of styles to dress up your 1911. About $75 to your door.

Alumagrips seem cool, but for the reasons listed above, I think plastic or wood (shudder) are better.

Nah, I don't care for laser grips, plus they cost a fortune!

I also don't want plastic or wood; all my guns have ruber grips but they look kinda lame on a 1911. One of the main reasons I want Aluma is because I want the engraving....

I spent $129 US on very nice cocobolo grips from Esmeralda Grips. Worth every penny since she chooses wood patterns you typically don't see in grips.

The most I spent on handgun grips was 70USD for a set of Badger Grips that were custom made for me at his shop.

I've spent a lot more on wood upgrades for shotguns, a lot more.

Why not? It personalizes your toy and you can move them onto another 1911 if you decide to sell the one you have now.

$100 on 1911 Grips?

Yup, you bet, especially if it was something I was looking for to complete a 1911 project or personalize one. Go for it.....

It's all about what they are worth TO YOU.

If it is a duty gun that's gonna get scraped up by a holster, and buried in a 1/4" thick layer of anti-perspirant flakes.... No, not worth $100...

If it is all about the look.... I think I've spent that much before!

Average I pay for grips is $60.00 to $100.00 example just last week I ordered two sets of the wood side panels for my 2 Ruger Super Redhawk grips just these side panels cost me $50.00 US per set.

These are Nill grips for which I paid $100 years ago:

No, these are not plastic and they ran about $175+fitting:

I find handgun grips for males to be similar to dolls clothes for women. How so? We all want to dress up our handguns with pretty grips. Am I guilty? YOU BETCHA!

Regards,

Richard:)

Ps I would rather pay Hakan for a set of his grips like these:

Perhaps I'm going to be mocked, but I spend 200$ on my 1911 grips and they are worth every penny. They are anatomical. I'll post a picture later on, in the meantime check under the photo thread 1911, last page and you will see my 1911 with its $200 grips.

I agree metal grips would look nice, but very cold to grip in the winter months.
