As for the OP's question, in a heartbeat!

For island deer or LMD that is a nice buck. I don't know too many guys who would pass on that.

I can speak with confidence that this buck will die of a ripe old age. It's on one of the Canadian Forces bases. I was just wondering who would hang up their hunting stuff for the year if it meant taking this one.

There is still over a month of season left on The Rock.
Personally I've seen several that size this year within bow range. They all walked (so far...)
Of course there's reasons for that - Four in fact. All of which are substantially better as far as headgear goes, and all of which are Very Much Alive and appear to get some Serious Joy of showing themselves occasionally outside of bow range.
Although tempted, I haven't taken up the rifle just yet (2 of the 4 are in the rifle zone) but may break down and do just that... eventually...
The rut here is poised to go any moment - have already seen a few acting Nutso in town. Won't be long at all and the same will happen out in the bush. Odds for a Real Biggie increase substantially at that point.

So, in answer to your question: Today, he would walk. As the season nears it's end, perhaps not.
