I am surprised at most of the answers here.

All I read about is everyones SUB MOA rifles and most guys won't take a shot at the back of his head at 50yds.

His head is the size of a vollyball, any rifle that can shoot sub Pie-plate. should be able to dump him on his nose!:D

Where is all the 243 guys that can consistantly make those head shots at 100-150YDS?:dancingbanana:

The cow is too close forr one, and I really believe he would turn with a bull grunt, if he is tending that cow.
But the fact that the cow is so close would be my main concern, I would be able to do the head shot, I'm sure, but I wouldn't bet my hunting lisence that I wouldn't hit the cow with shrapnel....

I shot a doe @ 125 yards up the ass with my 12g two years ago! Not on this side...not on that side....but right up the middle!! No ####! BIGREDD will confirm! The doe didn't spill an ounce of blood, but died 25 yards inside the woods. The corelokt slug was found in her brisket by the butcher. Would I recommend this shot....HELL NO! A fellow hunter who will remain nameless tried this shot this past deer season on a dandy 8 pointer on a full out run straight away from him. It was a miracle he hit the bastard as his scope was very loose on the gun. But he connected in the rear right ham and missed all but one lung. I toasted him with a running broadside shot at 160+ yards with the 12g but also caught him a little back and took out his right hip from a rear rib cage entry. He dropped and stayed put until I got there for the finisher. This is a low percentage shot and the lack of exit wounds will greatly effect your ability to track the game. I would not do it again at any considerable distance as I would want to ensure enough volocity remained in the bullet to punch right through.

Heads move, Horns deflect, I'll still call and wait for him to turn.

I am glad to hear all of the responses. In a way i was kinda trolling to see how many captain deadly's would respond. The folks that did reply didn't surprise me with their ethical and down to earth answers as they are the same folks that display reasonable and ethical contributions to this forum. For the record that bull did stop broadside when i grunted. He stopped broadside in the trees right where the cow was in the pic and the cow veered off to the side for a clean shot to slip through.:D

MOA accuracy, especially with a decent quality rifle & ammunition, isn't too difficult a task, off of a bench. Hiking on a hunt, coming up on an amimal unexpectedly, taking an off hand shot, at a low percentage target.............. MOA 'capability' is out the window, for me anyway. I'd rather wait and get prepped for a higher percentage opportunity.

You know it boils down to what would YOU do?, like i said, if it was last day, with a tag n hand, and i knew he wouldnt turn, i would try it and no doubt in my mind make it, this past fall i was forced to shoot from a 18 foot fibreglass over wood boat from 150 yards, with the 270 scoped, i didnt want to take the shot, but knew if i wanted my moose, than it was now or never, there were 2 foot waves on the lake, and first shot took out his wind pipe, second shot was on the fall of the wave and took out his left knee cap, he only made it 75 yards into the woods were he fell over due to major blood loos after cutting his throat.

IT was a hail mary, with only a day left to my hunt, being 3 provinces away on a short schedule i could not afford to not take it.
It worked out, im confidant in my abilties due to my military training and the amount of time on my rifles, i know what they can and cannot do.

Would i do it again, if put in the same shiity situation, perhaps, i do not know untill it arises!!
Hopefully not, i much rather the perfect broadside, but it dosnt always come!!

If I really wanted the animal, I woudl aim for an area that woudl hit the vitals, through the hip.

it realy depnds on what bullet youuse. At 50 yards, I'd take a head shot.

Grunt all you want, if you look further up in the pic on the left side, you can see the cow is right there... I guarantee you he aint going to turn for a grunt unless you make the best challenge grunt on the planet...
Pick something big up, and hit a few trees with it...
He'll turn to look if he thinks something is coming in fast especially another bull...

Everything he needs is right infront of him... Which is why I wouldnt shoot...
Too close to the cow to shoot IMHO...

If she wasnt there, your best way to get him to look back would be your first shot...
:) and if that doesnt work, your second...
A third might not hurt either... :)

nice pic though...

Sometimes watching them walk away is much better than shooting em...
