Wouldjah?

If you really want one, that is a fair price. Not an awesome deal, but fair.

Too much. It would have to be exceptional for almost $900. I would be interested at $750-800. (More $ if it's an N frame .44)

If the seller gets testie, tell him you could buy the same giggles for $550-$575 in a used GP100 (Ruger). That usually brings the seller back to earth...'cause it's the truth.

Just bought a new one today--------$944---in London. Dealer said transfers are taking 3 days lately; we'll see. I think its a bit high for used-----but I also thought what I paid was high. Bought it anyway---I ain't getting any younger.
Reread your post OP, you said unfired. Jump on it!

^ Nah, it's not like a rarity. You can find a 686 on any used gun board, in any used gun shop and S&W still produce them, there is no need to 'jump' on anything at those prices. Also, buy the gun not the story. I'm sceptical, I don't think there are a lot of people who buy a gun and never buy ammo...one is useless without the other. I also don't know any gun owners who buy both a gun and ammo and decide to never shoot them. Used, unfired...sure, yea, whatever?

Was there tax in there ..

If it is unfired except for the factory test firing and you want it, then it is a good deal.

They are a thousand dollars at least new now and they are a good gun.

It's brand spanking new. Played with it a little there not even any locking lug marks on the cylinder. Story is he bought it along with a .40 m&p (witch is also clean as a whistle) and got fired a couple weeks after. Didn't have any time to fire it and now needs money.

If it's that clean it's probably been shot, as they get test fired at the factory. As stated it's a little on the high side for a used gun. I'd be looking 750, 800 tops. You'll find lots of used ones for that price in similar condition. And it's gonna get some marks on it anyways if you shoot it.

I wasn't looking I thought it was a good deal. It's brand new so I save about 100$ over store price and I save taxes. What I AM looking for is a mint .357 sp101 for 600$ or thereabouts.
