Wounded WOLF..... Ontario

bear.23,

If a bear, coyote or wolf meanders its way to my yard for whatever reason, it has the time to get away that is does for me to get my rifle out of the safe.

I'm not willing to see if it has mange, rabies etc.....

Those animals should be in the bush and all be scared of the noise from my kids and my dogs, sled, quads etc..

My vote is dispatch it. (without getting yourself in legal trouble of course)

I'm in Alberta and our laws are a wee bit different up here.

Good luck.

all the MNR were busy up there with the end of the deer season.
I do not understand why owning firearms offends anyone, and if that, why hunting- which is "the" reason the Govvy allows us to have firearms would add to that offence, but do not feel in any way obligated to answer me, sometimes life is just that....

for you to legally kill / or harass that wolf you need to call MNR and get the ok from them, as it poses a threat to you and /or property. The MNR would try to estabelish if the threat is just perceived or real, and give you the instructions to follow. Maybe they even want to hear if you did kill it or not, advice you not to get close to it.... etc.

the other alternative is to hunt it, but your argument was a no fo this.

if the animal gets dangerously close to you or yours, the action is : kill the wolf, then report it.

I just came back from Bancroft and it seems like an area where SSS works rather good, but then again, if you wanted such advice, I guess you would't be talking about it , no?

I intend to expose him to it as soon as I can... But for reasons I can't get into (I have in the past and have been warned that it violated a confidentiallity agreement) certain provincial government agencies don't believe that hunting is appropriate for children to see or participate in... They have put me through the ringer becuase I own guns and becuase I reload... It's not been a wonderful couple of months...

Good luck with that, strikes me like some kind of a custody fight?
YUK!

That is the plight of our heritage and society. Dam that crap bugs me. Is it better to LIE to kids about where the food comes from. If we don't teach kids facts of life how the heck are they going to learn. I could go on and on as i'm sure most all of us could, but nothing bugs me more than some overeducated but dumb as a post person or people telling me/us that it isn't proper to expose kids to the realities of the cycle of life. Usually it involves some type of Gov. dept. controlling our every step and word.

shoot the poor wolf or keep your dogs inside, it won't harm you or your dogs unless you or they go looking for it. It's wounded and will want nothing to do with nothing for awhile. Just wants a quite place to rest and lick it's wounds.

Well we saw him a couple times yesterday.. I couldn't see him for a while and went over that way... He was a little further back in the bush and ran off.. There was a decent amount of blood and a blood trail from where he came in.. Not so much the way he ran off.. I haven's seen him since... I'll take a walk back into the woods on the weekend...

Wolves get shot on sight here, on the farm anyway not so much the bush. Maybe it's just a large copper "dog"....Are dog's illegal to shoot in Ontario?;)

out at the farm, that wolf would have been dead allready.

Unfortunately I'm living in the city :( now

.................your not in danger. Call the professionals. Sounds like you just want to pull the trigger and are tired of shooting paper?? I say this because you don't have a hunting license.

................I carry a rifle or slugged shotgun while stream fishing with my daughter because i live in grizz and black bear country. I don't shoot a bear because its there as it hasn't posed a threat. Why are you threatened by a wounded wolf??

........The only reason i would plug it would be out of compassion for the poor animal which you haven't mentioned.

Man, I just luv the assumptions some people make about folks they don't even know.

Shoot him and put him out of his misery. Use a 308, who cares if it is overkill. And weigh him. I bet he is closer to 80 lbs then 120.

i know which agency your talking about and had to deal with them because i hunt/own firearms.

call the local MNR/LEo and inform them of a wounded wolf getting close to your property/on your property and that you wish to have them come and deal with it as you don't have a wolf tag, if it does go for your dogs 3 S rule applys

We haven't seen it... Heard the pack last night though...
and here is a pic... Gotta luv that camera.... If the pic looks funny ..
It becuase I uploaded it from my wife machine and it's on Wifi the FTP doesn't seem to like it...

I'm going to transfer it to my machine and try again...
