"...the exploded view, the Tokarev is a basic Browning design. It differs in two major ways. The first is that it has none of the "extraneous" safeties and is best carried hammer down on an empty chamber. The other major change was that the designer, Fedor Tokarev, made a removable modular hammer/sear assembly. This facilitates cleaning and field stripping without putting the smaller parts at risk of loss."

Diassembly, etc.

Good schematic, thanks for posting.:)

Easy as pie. The left side grip comes off first. Look into the mag well with the gun pointing to the floor. You'll see a little lever at the bottom, flick this with a screw driver. Access the other one through the now gone left grip hole in frame. Same thing, the wing rotates. Be careful, these grips are fragile.

CTS wants to take the grips off.

They are held on by tabs that get turned to release them. The first one is turned by turning the tab leg just inside the mag well opening. Here is a picture of it. Once that one is off, you can see the other tab from the open side.
Thanks very much guys, probably never would have guessed that. I bought some mags from leverarms and they are the wider then the factory ones and need the spacer removed. I must say that they seem to slide in and kind of pop out once you depress the mag release. 4 of them work really good but 2 are kind of tight, I think they need a little working in.

One problem that I have it the new springs in the magazine's seem to be a lot tighter then the ones that came from the factory. The problem from this i believe is that I cant release the slide lock with my thumb, its to tight. I can release it when i tap on it with a soft end hammer, so i know that it works. I just cant get enough pressure on it with my thumb. I put the original mags in there and no problem with the slide release. Anyone have this problem or know of a solution?

A picture I thought I might post. Also that's not rust on the gun, i don't know why it showed up like that.

NAA.

Are you waiting for the 50% off fire sale? :p If you don't uncancel your order, you'll regret it as soon as they sell out.;)

Heck, used Chinese SKS are selling for more now than when they where "new" in the crate 3 years ago...

Roadwarrior makes a good point. According to the following post by CanAm in another thread, this is "the EOL for M213 production"

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=328607

I take that to mean that this is the End Of The Line for M213 production.

Get one while you can. As long as you take care of the pistol and the government does not ban all handguns, it would be almost impossible for this gun to depreciate. I suspect in 5 years that a nice one will be worth more than the $100 you paid for it.

I had it where the stock mags would get stuck in, if they were slammed in movie style, and I would have to press the mag release and pull down on the edge of the mag with my fingernails to get it out.... my solution was to put the mag in like Im civilized, and not Arnold Schwarzenegger in Red Heat.

NFA Official Response to Proposed Amendments to Bill C-301

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Canada’s Responsible Firearms Owners

The National Firearms Association has learned that substantive changes to Bill C-301 have been ordered. It is our opinion that these changes will have a wholly negative impact on our rights as responsible firearm owners.

The original Bill C-301 had our qualified support, as we interpreted it as a good first step toward eliminating the most onerous aspects of Bill C-68 and C-17 - With the understanding that more substantive positive changes were in the offing.

At present, we do not anticipate that we will realize any substantive positive result from the passage of Bill C-301, if amended. We are of the opinion that the long-term interests of Canadian firearm owners will not be best served by acceptance of the terms of this amended legislation.

As we publicly stated earlier, any substantive changes to the provisions of Bill C-301 would require the National Firearms Association to reassess our support. After careful consideration of this issue and the potential negative ramifications for firearm owners, the National Firearms Association has determined that we cannot support a revised and stripped Bill C-301.

While this issue has understandably become politically sensitive the National Firearms Association is of the opinion that a positive result may still be possible with the judicious application of public pressure from the firearms community. Canadian firearms owners have always been among the most vocal, ardent and dedicated of the Conservative Party of Canada’s supporters. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in the position of having to remind the Harper Government of that fact.

As such, we are urging all firearm owners to get active and to take immediate steps to let Prime Minister Harper, Public Safety Minister van Loan and MP Garry Breitkruez know where you stand as a responsible firearms owner!

If you want to help solve the C-301 problem this is what you need to do:

1. Write, fax, call and e-mail Prime Minister Stephen Harper at:

Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada K1A 0A2

Telephone: 613-992-4211

Fax: 613-941-6900

E-mail: pm@pm.gc.ca
E-mail: HarpeS@parl.gc.ca

Write, fax, call and E-mail Public Safety Minister Peter van Loan at:

House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada K1A 0A6

Telephone: 613-996-7752

Fax: 613-992-8351

E-mail: VanLoP@parl.gc.ca

Write, fax, call and E-mail MP Garry Breitkreuz at:

Ottawa Office
Room 685, ConfederationBuilding
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada K1A 0A6

Telephone: 613-992-4394

Fax: 613-992-8676

Email: breitg@parl.gc.ca

2. Politely, but firmly indicate your opposition to any revisions to Bill C-301. Drive home the point that as a voter and responsible firearms owner that you do not want Bill C-301 amended to remove everything but registration and that all the provisions in that bill that support the rights of lawful firearms owners are important to you.

3. If you are a current Conservative Party of Canada member, volunteer or financial contributor say so. I can't stress this enough!

4. Be sure to carbon copy your own Member of Parliament, in addition to the Prime Minister, Public Safety Minister van Loan & MP Garry Breitkreuz.

Write your own MP at:

MP's Name Here
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada K1A 0A6

For complete contact info for all MPs click on:

5. Advise your favorite pro-firearms rights organization of the responses that you receive and make sure that the executives of your local gun club, shooting range and fellow hunters, shooters and gun owners are aware of the issue and to get them involved!

In the interim, please be assured that the National Firearms Association will continue working all lines of communication with Government and other key stakeholders, and will continue to utilize all available assets in our efforts to gather critical information and to get this bill back on track.

Sincerely,

Sean Penney
Vice-President, Communications
Canada's National Firearms Association

I Bought 4 mags from lever Arms the bolt catches on the back of the mag between the feed lips grind this down a touch the spings are much heavier in these I cut a couple of loops off this helped with the tention they fit feed and function allright now but still not as good as the ones that came with it so if it is four mags you need buy a second gun the four from lever cost me $60.00 plus shipp and GST . and to use the stock mag I now have to epoxy a spacer on the back of them

I sort of have that with two of the six mags. Four work no problem, it does not matter how hard i slam them in, they still pop out nice. And two go in with a tight fit and kind of pop out maybe an inch then I have to pull them out. Maybe i will just have to wear them in a bit.

Well i figured out my problem with me not being able to use the slide lock on an empty magazine. I was laying in bed thinking how i could fix it and then realized that once I put a bullet in the mag the piece of metal that keeps the slide open (the lower portion of the metal tray were the first bullet sits on in the mag) will lower with the bullets and not be a problem. So to the gun safe I go at 1:30am to see if I'm right. And once I had a bullet in the mag the slide release worked perfect. In short term its the same system that keeps the slide open once the magazine is empty, these springs are just way stronger the the factory ones.

As for the bolt catching on the fed lip, so far I have no problems with them. But i also have not gone to the range. Maybe Monday, but no place in Winnipeg has 9mm bullets. Everywhere is sold out.

So far without shooting them I am way happier with the leverarms mags then with the factory ones. Which are now oiled and put away along with the mag spacer.

Read about 700 of the posts, did some online banking.. paid $500 in bills that are or will be due relatively soon... checked balance again...

Logged on to Canada ammo and bought a set of twins.

My first restricteds. For $266 a pair shipped and taxed, you can't go wrong. Ideally I would like to have both perfect, but I thought of it as the cheapest spare parts available for one good one. Double the magazines and a full set of parts? priceless.

My range is quiet and full of cool people if there is someone there. There will be some two handed Mel Gibson/lethal weapon style action when the twins show up. I did it online and then called at about 6pm pacific time friday night and actually got someone. They assured me that it would be at my house in 5-10 business days.. a few for the transfer and a couple for the shipping. Guess the big surge is over.

Thank you everyone for all the advice on taking them apart, cleaning out the goop and polishing the important working surfaces. If these pistols are anything like my marlin 45-70, I'll do my best to wear them out.

Had mine out at the range today no complaints at all shot very well better than my Luger no Jams or failures excellent buy for the cost

I shot mine for the first time today. It shot pretty well. Had a few FTEs and jams but that was mostly all right near the beginning. The second hundred rounds were free of all but 1 fte and 1 jam. I just ordered 3 more. Now I'll be ordering a whack of magazines from Lever Arms. I'll have to write down their phone number and call them on my lunch break on Monday.
