Ive been playing with the idea of getting an XCR for a few years now.Well i finally went and did it and boy am i disappointed. The amount of play between my upper and lower makes the Norc m4 i had look amazing.I mean the fact that you can even compare a 600 dollar rifles fitment to that of a 2k plus rifle is just a big giant ridiculous failure.Yes i fully understand that a small amount of play is completely normal, and im also aware that the wobble has no bearing on accuracy or function. But this is just ridiculous,i can literally shake the rifle and watch the upper and lower move around as well as hear the noise it makes! When im trying to sight this rifle in and it wobbles all over the place it feels cheap and makes me want to throw it in the creek.

Let me put it to you this way.If a company made a bicycle for example and the handlebars on the bike wobbled and you could shake them around BUT you could still steer the bike, would you buy a bike from that company...for 2 grand!! when you can buy waaaaaaay cheaper ''bikes'' that do not have those fitment issues.

And what pisses me off even more is that RA basically has a ''to bad so sad'' attitude in regards to this.A quick search online shows im not even close to the only person to complain about this issue. One of the suggestions from RA was to ''paint the rifle to tighten it up'' are you seriously kidding me?

And yes ive talked to RA about this.I was politely told ''live with it'' This post should serve as a warning to anyone that has OCD like tendencies like i do.There is a big chance that your rifle will have a level of slop you will not find acceptable, that being said there is also a good chance your rifle will lock up tight. Its basically a 2 thousand dollar crap shoot on which one you will get.

...Should of bought a SA

/end rant

I have an interview I did with Alex Robinson on tape that I still havent edited. I really should one of these days. He's quite a crazy cat sometimes. Certainly not the approach to customer service I'm more familiar with.

My SA has play between the upper and lower as well. Not a whole lot, but some. Does not seem to affect function or accuracy in any way. Nature of the design I guess.

I expected and dont mind some play at all.Like you said its the nature of the design. The amount i have with this rifle though seems excessive.I guess its one of those things you cant really ''show'' on the internet, but a few of my buddy's have handled it and even they think that there is just way to much movement. One even suggested that something must be broken.Sadly i checked...its not.

From the interviews ive seen.It seems he gets personally offended when someone points out a flaw in the design or points out that another company or rifle does such and such better.I know its his ''baby'' but you cant close your eyes and plug ur ears and go 'lalalala'' Just because someone points out a valid concern, weather you designed it or not.Let me re phase that...you CAN close your eyes and plug your ears, just dont expect to stay in business once people finally have had enough.

All my SA's had a little bit of play, but nothing to the extent you describe. Considering Norcs are "barn-spec", if it's worse than that... it speaks volumes. I don't think "paint" is gonna cut it... I know some people have occasionally used rubber grommets on the push pins to tighten the tolerances up, and I use something similar (wedge) on my AR; not because it was necessarily loose, but because I didn't want any play whatsoever.

Haha the latest ''suggestion'' is that i go find a 5/16 drill bit and have it machined down to 0.250 spec and replace my pin with that.....all this for the incredibly low price of 2K+ .....Im seriously dumbstruck that this is the best ''fix''

My Ar has play, my xcr didn't. My ACR does. I just put half a foam ear plug in the lower, where the upper fits in, it removes all play.

Far far FAAAR worse then my norc was.

"Some disassembly required..." That seems a tad on the extreme side, so before embarking down that path - you might want to check with Wolverine (I believe they're the Canadian distributor). It's possible there's a defect that's covered under warranty. Barring that, there's always the EE.
