Take a look on you tube, I was blown away with the punch this bullet has. Makes me a little nervous that it's available to civilians. Think flachette tipped 9mm round, meant to saw in and break apart!

Search 'RIP' and you'll find an exhaustive post about it already.

If this round being available to 'civilians' worries you, you need better things in life to worry about.

Old news, gimmick round that will be bought only by chairborne commandos who think ballistic gel performance is the end all be all demonstrator of terminal ballistics. I would rather shoot FMJ at a bad guy than that stuff.

This.

If you're hit with Hydra Shock, FMJ or this, you're having a bad day.

Correction: If you're hit with Hydra Shock or FMJ, you will probably have a much worse day than if you are hit with this stuff.

Here's a test done recently in actual ballistic gel by an independent gun writer who bought a box of 20 of the 9mm for $50 in order to test it: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/20...searchs-rip-ammo-ballistic-testing-phase-one/

For those who don't want to follow the link and read the whole article, here's the 'moneyshot' summary:

"I’m not going to say that the G2 R.I.P. is junk. It does have the capability to penetrate deep enough to cause an incapacitating hit if your aim is good enough to put it on target. It’s not like some of the other gimmick rounds that woefully underpenetrate. But that said, the only thing it really brings to the table that’s new (a big shallow surface wound) is done at the expense of delivering destruction where you want and need it – by putting the biggest possible bullet deep within the body. That’s a poor tradeoff. But the decision’s yours – decide and use whatever you’re comfortable with. Just consider making your decisions based on knowledge and results, rather than on over-the-top claims and marketing hype."

Wouldn't a fmj round just go through? I've heard stories from police saying sometimes these rounds just go though and don't stop the criminal. I would think this new round would be like a shotgun wound. I may be wrong. If they tested on a pig and showed the results, I'm sure it would open more eyes.
