WOW... just WOW!

I wouldn't say BBOTW has alot of fakes in it, but there is certainly some wrong information that was considered right 10 years ago. Since all the RC imports, some of Law's info has been proven inadequate.

Still the best reference out there to date though.

The Klapschaft and many of the snipers and other rifles shown are fake and humped. The other problem with BBOTW and sniper variations(Part 2) is it is based on one mans collection, and unfortunatey when some of it sold, several rifles were also renumbered and humped.

That's one of the problems with BBOTW, people see a fake rifle or item in it and then believe it is real as it's in the book. Even the humpers forging the rifles use BBOTW and screw up as it shows up on their auctions!!!

It is dated and was a good attempt at a first book, although Law passed away shortly after the book was published.

The best reference is Gunboards and GKForum as it is live, current, accurate and free.

Even if some of the rifles in BBOTW turned out to be humped, typically those rifles were used for their receiver markings, not to show a nice matching rifle. And actually, Law's book was based on two large collections, not just one.

There is considerable debate about whether the Klapschaft is/was real or not. Mauser documents exist briefly describing such an experiment, but no pictures I have seen. Law's example was probably not a legit one, but no proof has surfaced to say they are all fakes.

As for the sniper book, that's NOT BBOTW. It's another book by the same author. Frankly, I consider ALL K98k snipers to be fakes because legit ones are so rare and expensive that I would NEVER buy one considering the sheer volume of fake ones!

All you have to remember is to use caution (extreme caution at times) when using BBOTW or Sniper Variations, otherwise you probably will get burnt.

Even Law was caught selling a few humped rifles at a gunshow if that tells you anything.
