so went out for a drive and came across a truck with alberta plates iam in b.c
stopped to see if they were ok and they had a moose in the ditch below (100 feet below straight down ) The guy at the truck looked and said oh its ok iam just waiting for my friends there native ok ????? didnt feel like stopping and getting out with 3 large men so kept driving and call the co as soon as I had service he went out about 30 min or so after I called and they were gone guess they freaked out and left he couldnt find them, the truck I was driving is an old forestry truck so I think they got scarred and covered the animal and plan on going back because the co said he saw no blood on the road anywere in the k # i said so there going to keep an eye out on the road to catch the guys

you take down the plate number and forward it to the co as well, this way he will get a knock at the door and maybe a search for the meat.

back plate was cover they had the tail gate down could'nt see it :(
but they said they were going to keep an eye on either direction only one way out of here and then two road so they cant hide :)

Heard of 2 moose shot in our hunting area last week. Heads and hind quarters were taken everything else was left! Late season moose was open so WTF? Why would anyone leave all that meat to waste?

one of my friends keeps getting invited to go "hunting" with a native guy he works with.
"hunting" is driving down a paved residential road until they see a deer, and shooting it with a .22.
I've tried time and time again to explain that this is neither hunting, nor legal, but he's convinced that "It's ok cause he's an indian."
drives me nuts that this guy goes around bragging about his poaching exploits. I've been tryin to get a name for months to call in, but would there be any action taken if it's just hearsay?

They're not poaching, it's legal for them to do it.

Judging from the first post,it appears that the people that killed the moose were not native, they were just going to have natives show after the fact.

The guy at the truck looked and said oh its ok iam just waiting for my friends there native ok ?????

I could fill a book with stories like that. I was driving back from camp at 7am last fall, and met a pickup flying down the road, three Indians in the back, pointing rifles and spotlights everywhere. Another time, some useless A-Hole shot my pet buck right next to the "no shooting" sign. He looks 100% white, but has a status card. That buck was so tame, you could have walked right up and put a collar on him. The same bunch used to go into our other logging camp, with a pickup and quads on the back of their fishing boat. They would start at camp, shooting all the tame deer and cutting off the hindquarters. The rest they would leave to rot. Usually, one or two guys would have status cards, the rest would be just white A-holes taking advantage of their friends. I always find deer with the hindquarters cut off, and I've had to shoot dozens of deer with jaws blown off, broken legs, gut wounds, etc. The local Indians have been shooting bears for years, cutting them into pieces to use for crab bait. Now they are crying for an end to all bear hunting! I'm half Indian, myself, but I have never used that as an excuse to exploit our natural resources.
