WOW why you ask for detailed pics

To be clear guys this is an issue of long term abuse. What I mean is not being cleaned for 2 years after shooting corossive ammo. I am surprised it does not look worse, the point is it was sold like this and the pics provided did not show this at all, the pic was of the left side where it all looks minor almost non existnet. I saw the original pics and they were very deceptive. If all this rust is so visable before field stripping what not mention it or even show it in a pic or two?? That is the clear issue, say it is really rusted or at least send pics of the rust so it is clear there is an issue. I would have bought this sks in this condition but the price is another story.


Oh and, how about the unpinned hi cap mag?? I HAVE SINCE RIVETED IT AGAIN IN THE ORIGINAL HOLE so it is legal again.
 
If you do not mind removing the blue finish that is left, you should dunk everything in "Evaporust" for a couple of days... It wil remove the rust and free all the parts. I have used it on canon parts that were left 90 years underground and it worked wonders. Get a bottle at Canadian Tire and dunk your trigger assembly, bolt assembly and piston assembly using any suitable container... The sks will be in running condition in a day or two... The barrel is chromed so it should still be ok...

If you do not want the blueing gone, you could try to dunk all the metal parts in diesel fuel for a few weeks.... With some scrubbing you may be able to remove most of the rust and the mechanisms wilL probably free up nicely...
 
First off, I don't think corrosive has anything to do with this one, just corrosion. It probably sat in a case after being put away wet. I no longer store anything in cases, evaporation will deal with a little moisture, if it's not contained. DON'T SEAL IT UP IF IT'S NOT BONE DRY. I would tell the seller to rot in the friendless hole he came from, and name him to shame him. Having said that, scrub it with 0000 steel wool and wd40, and it will be just fine. That combo will remove the rust, but leave the bluing that remains. What a sh1tweasel to not disclose this condition. If he had, it would have been a fair deal if the price were appropriate.
 
When everything gets sorted out, i'll buy it for $40 shipped :)


The silver lining is that the owner can nowo get a more intimate knowledge of the gun through it's detailed stripping, cleaning, buffing, maybe some SANDING and lapping, refinishing, and reassembly. I've never really done this with one of my firearms, but I would imagine it would be a good learning experience.

That said, with a little elbow grease it should be fine. i hope the buyer gets some money back, and keeps it in restored condition as a conversation piece.

You mean STANDARD capacity mag and you have reneutered it lol. High cap IN MY BOOK is modifying a mag to hold more than it was origionally designed for. so even a 100 round drum is standard capacity becasue it was origionally designed to hold 100 rounds.... adding a plus 2 baseblate on a glock mag would make it larger capacity, but still not high cap. cutting down the follower on a 1911 mag to ad an addition round... that again still isn't high cap, we'll call it Modified capacity.

I think the seller needs to be shamed for sure it is people like that, that will make honest people leery about selling and buying on here!!!! so for you people doing this smarten the #### up !!!!! on the flip side i hope the buyer isn't going to accept this tell the seller he's getting it back one way or the other either gracefully or up the wazoo !!!!!! :)

It did mine. I am in the market for an SKS, But I think for this I will deal with some local dealers, this way I can handle the rifle and inspect it in person before cash is laid down.

To me, selling this rifle to ANYONE would be like selling a truck with cut brake lines and telling the buyer to go ahead and throw the plates on and drive it home.

This seller obviously has no remorse for his fellow CGNers let alone fellow man. I am glad the buyer didn't try to fire that thing.

Im not even gonna comment on the unpinned mag... Isn't that a legal issue?
 
I'd post the seller's name in this forum. Its clear he knew what he was misrepresenting what he was selling and doesn't care about trying to make it right, why hide his identity? Might as well put it up so everyone can steer clear of him in the future.
 
I do agree about outting the seller.

CGN is a community and we should be able to shame whoever it was as a warning to others. His avatar should be a scarlet letter and his custom title should be "persona non grata".
 
It's honestly not that bad...

That being said, I think it's generally good to clean a firearm before selling it.

When I sell a firearm, I always do the "white glove" test... I want it to be cleaner than when I bought it (even if it was brand new)... I then throw some oil on there so its good to go.

Sure, it takes a little more effort when selling the gun... But, since I clean them after shooting... It usually not much more cleaning to get it "white glove clean".

rule #14 No one shall disclose any personal information of any members without formal written consent of the member in question, ....
